“Bleav in Steelers” hosts Ike Taylor and Mark Bergin discuss Najee Harris’ commentary about how NFL teams aren’t valuing the running back position in 2023.

Harris has two years remaining on his rookie contract. Also, the Steelers could pick up his fifth-year option for the 2025 season.

Dalvin Cook and Ezekiel Elliott remain free agents. The New York Giants put the franchise tag on Saquon Barkley.

Bergin explains how Cook’s release by the Vikings signals two things:
1. At what point is too much salary allocated to the quarterback position?
2. NFL teams will use teams skill position players in a variety of ways. Like the NBA, it will become position-less. Running backs and receivers will need to be able to do it all: Run, catch, block, etc.

  1. Najee is a part of the new culture we built, as long as he doesn't ask for something over his market value the Steelers should definitely keep him when his contract is up as long as the wheels don't fall off…

  2. None of what you guys are saying is making any difference in the devalue of the RB. Its the hits after the 4th season and the decline in production. It's the injuries etc etc… they can move on to younger fresher legs rather than pay rbs top dollar
