BREAKING : Manchester United have dropped interest in Mason Mount and are now preparing a bid for Moises Caicedo

#mufc’s decision to pursue other options was taken after Chelsea rejected their third offer for Mason Mount.

Ten Hag is thought to be on board with the decision to switch midfield targets due to #mufc’s limited budget. Despite being keen on Mason Mount, Ten Hag wants to use that budget efficiently and to not overpay for players

Manchester United are now focusing on other business after deeming Chelsea’s £65m price tag unrealistic. There is belief at Old Trafford that Chelsea are trying to apply a “Manchester United tax” to the Mount deal

Brighton value Moises Caicedo at around £80m — considerably more than the £58m plus £7m in add-ons Chelsea are demanding for Mason Mount — but #mufc are prepared to take into account his younger age and different contract situation

#mufc have been maintaining a dialogue with Moises Caicedo’s representatives while going for Mason Mount and will now intensify efforts to explore a deal

As well as preparing a bid for Moises Caicedo, #mufc will also step up attempts to sign a new centre forward.

The Athletic

Caicedo in 2021:

“My dream is to play for Manchester United.”
Fabrizio Romano

United have always liked Moisés Caicedo and there were contacts around April-May. Right now, Chelsea want Caicedo and Caicedo wants Chelsea. He almost has an agreement with the club. It remains to be seen if United will take action.

  1. Why dont we ever buy young talent for cheap and send them out on loan to a PL team. See how they do. If they smash it then it's a win. If they don't then united haven't really lost anything.

  2. I remember when Ole wanted to sign him for £4.5m then the price got inevitably jacked up to £8m. Also there were work permit issues with the fee being so low and him not being a full international at the time. People seem to rewrite history, he didn't settle immediately (The worry with…) in Brighton and was loaned out to the Belgian league. I personally wrote him off at that point, thinking he was just another one of those that his agent has done a great job linking him to United to get a European move. Happy to be wrong if we eventually get him, and he proves to be good for us.

  3. Wow! For once stephen howson is been objective about mason mount, halilujah. I know mason mount is English so there’s sentiment right there. But time to throw sentiment away if man utd are gonna compete. I have been criticizing the mason Mount deal right from day one. Mason Mount is average I don’t see him as a star player. United should be going after players like caicedo, frenkie de jong, Barella.

  4. I’ve never really rated Mount that high and I feel like this is an unexpected opportunity vs something we actually would have been looking at had Mount not fallen out with Chelsea. Very similar to Alexis Sanchez situation which did not work out for us at all

  5. Not sure why this is a thing. They are talking 80+ million for this guy. We can't afford it. We can't afford mount, can't afford Kane. Why do people think we are going to do this deal?

  6. Lavia and Caiceido will be top class midfield targets and maybe a free agent Rabiot with some experience.

Still don’t see us realistically getting any no.9 that actually improves us immediately.
