  1. Protecting Lovren's value would be fine if it wasn't for the fact that every time he has a poor game or makes a mistake (both far too frequent an occurrence) his value plummets, meaning there may not be much value to protect in the near future. We need a massive overhaul of our defence, which at worst should mean we buy at least one quality CB, a good DM and a proper LB in the summer. Will we? I have my doubts.

  2. Our defensive woes are a combination of inadequate players and managers/coaches that are defensively inept. I don't know what Klopp works on in training, but whatever it is it isn't stopping us conceding goals in the same p.poor fashion game after game. If Klopp is incapable of organising and/or improving a defence, he needs to get in someone who can help him out in that area.

  3. Yes Chris, Tottenham's defence (inc the GK and DM) are considerably better than ours, both in terms of personnel a d organisation.

  4. if Klopp thinks it's a good idea for lovren to sign a new contract I'm all for it, if Sakho and Klopp still have issues it's best for then to sort it or have Sakho leave 🙁 think with other teams hard fixtures list LFC can still definitely make top 4, just gotta go out and beat Watford on Monday and get the winning streak started

  5. Lovren is a solid CB, and people criticising him won't help his mentality going into our next game. He's done very well this season, he's as good as it gets for a team with no champions league. he'll make an amazing back-up/rotation CB or we might see him improve his form like mignolet. I have full faith in Klopp and him if that's what Klopp believes will work, YNWA

  6. Your all pitiful fans believe in your club and your manager instead of being trolls who think they could manage a team because you play FIFA and football manager
Congrats To Lovren on the new contract

  7. Look lads, the way i see it is simple we go our for our last few games and just simply focus on winning. We do not want to have one eye on our games and the other on the competition. If we go out and purely focus on winning then i think top 4 is well in our grasp. Come on you Reds. #LFC #YNWA.

  8. We will never win the league with Lovren at CB. The bloke is too inconsistent. We are so desperate for a strong defense we over praise the likes of Lovren when he has a good game. Just some consistent solid CBs please!!

  9. I think it makes sense but 100k a week for third choice CB seems too much to me. My worry is based off of this precedent our wage outlay is gonna go through the roof and it will be used (rightly or wrongly) as an excuse to not sign new players 2/3 seasons down the line.

  10. Dejan Lovren new £100,000-a-week deal at Liverpool makes him the
fifth-highest paid defender in the Premier League, behind
    1 David Luiz
    2 Nicolas Otamendi
    3 Vincent Kompany
    4John Terry
    5 Dejan Lovren

  11. I think the Lovren deal is fine. Look at some of the guys getting games around the top third of the league. By the way, we had a similar conversation about Mignolet not so long ago, and plenty of fans said "why bother, Klopp is gonna sign some German to take his job." When a player has value, either sell him or lock him down and protect his value.

  12. It makes perfect sense.  With lovren signed he can now be used as a back up. to Van dyk or who ever we get.  Without him signing  dajan would walk a season later for penny's as he not getting games  Klopp did this with mignolet.  Gave him a 5 year deal in Jan 16 and brought in Karius the summer as his number 1 keeper.  Karuis had bad luck with a broken hand and didn't take his chance when he had it and Mignolet responded brilliantly to get his spot back.   I really hope klopp keeps sakho & lothren as backup to Matip and van dyk ( other target )

  13. well after this weekends results , i we have to push on now and win them all and not slip up , manc utd and city both know they have messed up and wish we had got wa win last week now , that would have put the icing on the cake

  14. Its amazing that any self respecting Liverpool fan could think the Mamo not being badly injured is not good news .. there are some real numpties out there

  15. Watford is a huge game, but we should approach it like any other, we play our game we win its as simple as that, no mistakes, keep calm, apply pressure whilst keeping our shape, back ourselves

  16. Good rotational CB. Saves money having to buy two world class CB's. Imo getting better and little bit more consistent under klopp. Worth more now. Will be a lot better backup then Lucas and klavan. Makes perfect sense to me. Would rather have sakho as the backup though

  17. Honestly all you LFC fans calling for FSG to leave the club need to get some perspective. Do you not remember the shambolic ownership you had before? Do you not know how lucky you are to have owners who pump money into the club, redevelop your ground etc? Look at Orient, Portsmouth, Blackburn if you want to see truly dreadful owners and what they do to proud football clubs.

  18. A new contract for Lovren makes some sense even if one is not that keen on him. Can keep one season as back-up then consider selling for decent price for example. What doesn't make so much sense is the fee of £100,000 a week.

Sakho I sympathise with because it doesn't feel fair he got frozen out so much for non play-related reasons and then the cult of Sakho suddenly turned their backs on him without needing to ask the reasons. He's peculiar but at least as good as Lovren.

  19. Disgusting amount of money being paid for what should be a poor back up centre back. Disgusting. Our defense has been shite since Rafa left.
