Korea take on Denmark in the semifinals of the men’s badminton event at the London 2012 Olympic Games (4 August).

Badminton made its debut as a demonstration sport at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. It was not until the 1992 Games in Barcelona that it was officially included on the Olympic programme, with men’s and women’s singles and doubles events. The mixed doubles event made its debut in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympic Games. Since then, the number of events has remained unchanged.

  1. The same thing about lee yong dae and tan boon heong is that both of them are really special and skillful but tends to make a lot of stupid mistakes whenever it matters.

  2. I've rewatched this game a couple of times. Many people blamed Jung Jae Sung for the loss. I thought Lee Yong Dae's 3 errors in the end of second game was more to blame. More important, I believe it is Korean team's smash defense led to the loss. As a Chinese, I've been frustrated by Li/Liu's flat saves against smash that lead to more and more advantage to their opponents. Now I know the root of the techniques. It is great at the beginning of the match that one can defend the smash with flat, short return, intend to regain upper hand during drive. But when the pressure is on, and the physical strength is depleted, these flat return will give the opponents more advantages. Go watch Chinese men's double player's smash defense and you will understand what I mean. I believe this is why the Koreans has not won Olympics the last few tries although their players were top the rankings. Chinese men's team were able to win with the same smash defense is not because their smash defense were better, but because China has the best men's double player in Fu Haifeng. Many people remembered Fu Haifeng's powerful smash, but many are not giving him in keeping the pressure to the opponents no matter how good the returns are.

  3. 배드민턴은 파트너끼리 사이가 좋을 수가 없는것인가?(다 그렇다는건 아닙니다.) 정재성 선수가 이용대선수의 눈을 계속 피하네요…

  4. AAAAAAaaarrrrghhhh – just leave the stupidly short serve to fall short – why attack it when you could just take a cheap point ?????
Mind game kicks in BIG TIME when you advertise that "There" short serve is 90% of the time TOO short – EASY POINTS.
