  1. Proves how weak and shallow the US bench is. You would think a country that has all the resources it has, it could find at least a half a dozen quality coaches in the US or more from outside. The US never stops looking like the JV team to the rest of the world.

  2. I see one clear reason it won't work: Berhalter. Reyna is a kid who made a mistake and apologized to the team. B is an adult who outed Reyna in public and then never apologized for it. Combined with the ignoring of Brooks and so much more petulance, B is not mature enough to be in charge of the team — and that's ignoring his ignorance and lack of intelligence as a coach.

  3. Reyna is garbage and overrated. Same goes for his dad. Don't see the hype. Those that says he's top 3 player on the usmnt is delusional.

  4. I’m giving Gregg benefit of the doubt I really hope he will see how his assistants changed and did better and not be so rigid

  5. Idc what people are saying. GB did Reyna a favor by putting him in check. Gio needed to learn to check his ego and be a team player.

  6. Greg needs to continue to treat Geo like any other team member. Geo's soccer mom like betrayal of a decades old friendship can be forgiven but not forgotten or repaired.

The players wanted Greg. He got results that would be the envy of 95% of national team coaches. Bringing him back was the right thing to do.

  7. Greg Berhalter coming back to coach is an absolute disgrace. He is a poor manager. The people in charge of u.s. soccer know nothing about the sport. It is so sad. Really drives passionate fans with a real knowledge of the sport away. Also it is a clear fact that Berhalter was treating gio unfairly due to reyna letting go of his son when he was gm of his sons team. Not only tacitcally is berhalter inept, but his charachter is beneath the position of a manager of the usmnt. I am done being a fan in this moment. I am no longer a usmnt fan. I always believe in the great players, but the front office and board and manager all need to be removed. This is a systemic problem of ineptitude. The best players fumbled by a complete inept manager. The usmnt is tailored for Americans who know nothing about the sport.

  8. Berhalter is fine for CONCACAF, but his tactical nuance was sorely lacking last World Cup against European competition. USMNT, even with Balagun, lacks depth up top. Scoring will most likely remain problematic. We’ll still be lacking goals while dominsting possession, although we could do well on the counter if we changed tactics. Berhalter has proven his stubbornness in this regard. I question his humility when it comes to Reyna. We need Reyna more than we need the MLS influenced choice of Berhalter (US Soccer won’t tolerate another non-MLS fan like Klinsmann.)

  9. Gio should’ve played more in World Cup but when Trainer doesn’t pick u he didn’t pick u so u take the” high road”, “be a pro” and show support to your teammates while secretly hoping they fail without u

  10. Mentioning how sometimes those fences can't be mended is exactly why they needed too move on to a new coach. Too much baggage and for what? An average to slightly above average coach at best? 2:17

  11. Gio needs to just play as well as he can, he has talent. Getting stuck in this national team stuff is non sense. It doesn't put food on the table. Nice to get the call up, but club pays the bills, and soccer the pay can be a lot. Hate to say it, the US is a also ran in the world. The power is the two South American clubs and five to six European clubs. Sorry the facts are the facts.

  12. I would rather have Gio Reyna than Greg Berhalter, that's for sure.

Berhalter was in over his head at the last world cup and his presence means that the US has zero chance of making a decent run in 2026.

On top of that, Berhalter has severe issues with arguably your best talent.

    Lose-Lose.

  13. I just don’t see the big deal about playing international football other than pride. I would walk if I’m Gio. They don’t need him. He doesn’t need them

  14. Berhalter is professional, notwithstanding the HOW Institute breaking the Chatham House Rule at that private conference and publishing his anecdote involving a certain entitled 20-year-old with some growing up to do.

I've no doubt Berhalter will be professional with Reyna, which will mean giving him the minutes he deserves, assuming he deserves them. And that's all up to Gio himself.

  15. “Why can’t this work?” goes on to explain a story where the player and coach hate each other after getting left off squad

  16. Berhalter even stated at that conference that Gio apologized. Because Berhalter made that so public, he needs to come out and make a public apology to Gio for his mistakes. It's only fair. He also needs to go into the dressing room and apologize to Gio in front of the entire team as well.
