Why Joe Burrow ranks above Josh Allen on Chris Simms’ QB Countdown | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC

  1. Tell your show producer to download from a better source. Your shit show is the only place I've seen that video with bad audio.

  2. You damn right Joe Burrow wouldn’t throw 5 yards short on 4th down. He threw it 25 yards to Jamar Chase on 4th and 7 during the AFC Champ game this past year

  3. Only a casual places Allen over Burrow. Just wear a flashing neon sign that says,"I just started watching football yesterday."

  4. Burrow is very good, and I'd rate him above Allen too, but he doesn't actually reach a higher level in the playoffs. He averages just under 2 TD passes a game in the regular season but just 1.3 per game in the playoffs. (In his seven playoff games he's got nine TD passes.) The Bengals have been a strong playoff team these last two years, but that seems to rely mostly on the defense holding the opponent to 19 pts or less; when they do that they're 4-0. In the three times they gave up more than 19 they've lost two of those games by the same score (23-20).

  5. Josh Allen is clearly, I repeat, CLEARLY a better QB than Burrow.
    Burrow has the better RB, better WR1, better WR2, better WR3 than Allen. And yet:
    2022 PPG:
    Bills = 28.4 PPG (#2 in NFL)
    Bengals = 26.1 PPG (#7 in NFL)
    2022 Total QBR:
    Allen = 71.4 QBR (#2 in NFL)
    Burrow = 58.7 QBR (#10 in NFL)
    So Allen has less around him all across the board than Burrow, but still: 1) Led his offense to more points and 2) Posted a much higher Total QBR.
    Debate over: Josh Allen > Joe Burrow.
    Done!

  6. I got news for Joe, its going to take more than 1 better season to unthrone Mahomes. It will take 2 SB wins, 3 SB appearances, and 2 MVP's to do that. So basically 3 better seasons will be the minimum to take Mahomes down.

  7. 3 reasons I put Burrow over Allen

    He's been to back 2 back AFC Championship games

    He's been to a super bowl

    And despite losing to him he has a better record than Allen against Mahomes

  8. Joe Burrow reminds me of the very best of John Elway & Dan Marino combined. The man is a joy to watch unless he's playing your team . Bengals have made some VERY bad moves over the years, especially at The Draft. But give them credit, they knew to not ——NOT ! ——-TRADE THAT #1 PICK Teams , especially Miami were offering almost anything to get Burrow ——–Bengals didn't sell. Good on them.——MJL, 76 y/o

  9. These two are my favorite sports talk duo. Authentic, knowledgeable, unfraid to have different opinions, and always respectful towards each other. I'm done with Undisputed. This is my new favorite. Always loved Chris Simms. Career cut too short from injuries.

  10. Chiefs fan here. It’s simple. Joe burrow was able to get past mahomes in the playoffs and make a SB. Josh Allen gets bullied by mahomes and Burrow in the post season.

  11. I do agree with Simms on a lot of what he’s saying here. To me Burrow is one QB in the modern-day NFL who you could drop into any era and he’d succeed. Fundamentally Joe’s really good, as a passer he’s really good, and he’s obviously a really smart guy. So I could see him playing in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s, or 2020s. That’s how long I’ve been watching NFL football. In other words I’m as old as Joe Burrow is good.

  12. Last year Simms flew around and interviewed some quarterbacks. It was really interesting. But I watched the ones with Josh Allen and Trevor Lawrence. But I also think Simms interviewed Burrow and that was good too. Burrow obviously is a smart guy but he’s pretty grounded too. But hopefully Simms does that again this year. I’d like to see him go out to LA and interview Herbert because I’ve never really seen an interview with him before. (It’s interesting because Simms asks those guys about what grips they like to use, what they’re thinking about during the week, and other things that you’ll hardly ever see interviewers ask about. It’s not “fluff” but it’s actually more QB-type stuff.)

  13. I FREAKING LOVE JOE BURROW!!! He's the guy eating pizza in the middle of a freaking battle, smiling and laughing . I hope he KILLS IT @BURROWHEAD stadium this year!!!

  14. Florio… look at Burrows stats in the playoffs.
    7 career playoff games: 9 TDs; 4 ints; 260 yds a game and has never thrown for a 4th qt. TD.
    His numbers are pedestrian and actually go down. Bengals defense has carried them in the playoffs – facts.
