Tyrus Thomas was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats on February 18, 2010 for Ronald “Flip” Murray, Acie Law, and a future first round pick.

Thomas was drafted fourth overall in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers on June 28, and then was traded to the Chicago Bulls along with Viktor Khryapa for LaMarcus Aldridge, the second overall pick.

Tyrus participated in the Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk Contest and would be the first Chicago Bulls representative since Scottie Pippen entered the contest in 1990.

During his sophomore year, he appeared in 74 games and started in 27 of them. He averaged 6.8 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, 1.2 assists per game, 0.97 blocks per game and 18.0 minutes per game. He had a 42.3% field goal percentage and a 74.1% free throw percentage.

In his third year, Tyrus appeared in 79 games, started in 61 of them and averaged 10.8 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, 1 assist per game, 1.9 block per game, 1.1 steal per game, and 27.5 minutes per game. He had a field goal percentage of 45.1% and a free throw percentage of 78.3%. In Game 1 of the Celtics-Bulls series of the playoffs, Tyrus hit critical jumpers in overtime to help the Bulls secure the win.

  1. We Gon Miss You Here In Chicago Tyrus But Im Glad We Got Hakim Warricdk
Warrick = Thomas so Not a prob

    MUCH LUV T^2 U a BULL 4 LIFE MAN!

  2. Big Mistake on the Bulls end…I dont think he's going to be used right in Charlotte…But they do get a first round pick…But with Charlotte improving…You never know how good that pick is going to be

  3. @chitown789 Actually Tyrus wasn't that good. More often than not Tyrus always got out of the plays in both offense and defense. Why else do you think he got into arguments with former coach Del Negro. For example when there was a defensive play where he's supposed to help on a double team, he would defend the player in front of him who doesn't have the ball. He ignores his defensive assignments and tries to pad his stats for his sake and not the team.

  4. the bulls starting lineup is better now but Tyrus would have been great off the bench behind Boozer. I love Tyrus but the problem with him is, when his athleticism is gone, so is his game.

  5. Such an awesome mix. I was a little sad when he was traded but hey he and Gerald Wallace are gonna hopefully have some awesome highlights for us! I always have thought Tyrus was an underated player. His leaping ability is CRAZY!

  6. I liked bulls with gordon, thomas, deng, that team had some heart
especially when they beat the heat in playoffs, very good basketball.
And i am disgusted with rose buzerr, noah

i am not bulls fan…..basketball is boring ugly since 2005 or 2007 and died in 2008 finals and it is going downhill.
Bulls team that i liked was fun to watch and had some heart(the real one,not fake commercials and media stuff, that is not real basketball)
If you dont see that, just enjoy in fake basketball…….

  8. @DH12C Heart doesn't equal good that's why they lost. There's a reason why those Bulls teams have not gone far in the playoffs. I've seen a lot of college games that had heart but it's garbage ball. And NBA basketball has been good again since 2007. Tyrus had no heart.

  9. @godzilla1077
they lost a good fighter and took fat, useless pf hahhah
good doesnt equal wining(the one that everyone can see) and fake rings
do your homework on the real stuff and you will be pleased with your knowledge

  10. @DH12C You've obviously never done your homework. Tyrus Thomas was a guy who thought he was the main guy taking bad shots. Thomas deviates from both offensive/defensive gameplans. He never followed up on his defensive assignments blowing rotations while trying to get a block that isn't there while getting burned on a simple pass leaving his rotation open. It's obvious you lack any basketball knowledge if you think Thomas was a good player, let alone playing with heart, which he didn't.

  11. @DH12C In terms of your last comment that apparently you erased, I never said Boozer was a great player but a better player than Thomas. I've never said he was a great player. But unlike Thomas, Boozer wasn't a headcase. Not to mention your definition of "quality" is horrible. I guess you like Vinnie Del Negro as head coach because he has a lot of "heart. In terms of greatness, you have no idea what your talking about. Gordon no longer plays for the Bulls and Noah is an energy guy who's okay.

  12. Tyrus Thomas was super athletic and a great defender with hustle he had 9 blocks in one game and he is 6'7! And he was gonna be a 16-17 PPG scorer and great rebounder he just got injured so much

  13. I understand that he had a lot of mental breakdowns. He was so athletic though. I don't understand why you don't have someone like Scottie Pippen or John Paxson work with him on the mental part of the game. He could have been a beast.
