Kalvin Phillips Injury | Manchester City midfielder and England international Kalvin Phillips will undergo surgery for recurring right shoulder instability and dislocations/subluxations. It’s an issue that began in 2020 with Leeds and has continued. After his most recent dislocation during training, the club decided on surgery to stabilize the shoulder. The type of surgery will depend on the extent and type of damage with then decides the return timeline. These can vary significantly, ranging from 2.5 months to 6+ months, putting Kalvin’s World Cup prospects very much in jeopardy. That being said, it’s a procedure that needed to be done and with multiple recent dislocations, both club and player decided that time was now.

  1. A bit surprised City would sign a player with this sort of issue. Aren't medicals supposed to catch this sort of thing? Is the surgery likely to fix this or could this be a career defining injury?
