Most of her vaults were under or over rotated
Also, lets remember that she just started doing it after World's 2007, in that WC Jade Barbosa did an Amanar
I love this from most of what is shown.
Shawn Johnson is doing her Amanar on Vault.
People tend to forget to give her props for doing this vault. There might have been some issues on the landing and rotation, but it was HUGE to do an Amanar in 2008. Plus, she opened the door for legacy of great Amanar vaulters that now form the United States of Amanar 😂🙌🏻
how did we get from Amanars to wolf turns
Shawn Johnson never had a stuck landing doing her Amanars but then, she was probably one of the few who does that during her time as it was a massive vault. Then again, Simona Amanar’s performance of her eponymous vault were disasters, though I don’t think I saw a video of her doing it more than once.
shawns twisting form is so underrated, it’s almost as clean as mckayla maroneys and simone biles
It's amazing she never got injured doing this.
For a little squirt she was so freaking powerful and fast. She runs that vault at incredible speed.
Now only American do it.
It’s crazy, how consistent she landed this center mat one step like clockwork. She had excellent leg form both in the air and more impressively off the table.
People also forget that she got VERY impressive distance from the table every single time
She was born to make history
I really think she did the amanar in 2008 to face the natia's aa score
The cop there was not balanced
I didn't know she was the first. She was a gymnast with awesome power. But she's lucky she didn't destroy her knees on some of those landings – yikes.
her vaults are always underrotated
Her Amanar had little height. But Shawn was very consistent. She struggled hard for her Gold in Beijing.
Was she the first after Simona?
Can you imagine how hard she has worked for this? The physical pain of the failures, psychological strain… She's stronger than most women the common man knows.
After this thing, the Amanar became the must-have item for US gymnasts to make the team
It wasn’t very good
How do they expec them t to stick their landings on a soft surface like that!! I'm surprise they didnt break their ankles.
One thing I always wanted to see was her sticking the Amanar 😭😭 and her full in on dismount on beam 😭😭
I love that rotation of all that handstand
With some of those landings, I wonder how many times she sprained her ankle to doing that vault.
I feel like she twisted a bit to late after hitting the table which is why she was always landing a bit short of rotation if she would have started her twist just a tad bit earlier I think she would fully complete the 2 1/2 rotations and the landing would be great… but Shawn has always been such a great gymnast
Honestly, I felt like almost all her amanars weren’t fully rotated and should not have gotten credit. She would twist nearly a quarter of the way around on the vaulting table and then pull her left shoulder around the last quarter of the way on the landing. So she cheated half of the rotation.
Wtf even was that? It was like she twisted one way then just suddenly she was going the other way! How do they even keep track of where they are? It was pretty gorgeous.
I’m still bitter she didn’t win all around at the Olympics but I’m also happy for Nastia
The best on the balance beam
Don't come for me, but the best part is that she is a real female athlete, if you know what I mean. It's easy for male athletes….
bizarro saber que a primeira americana a realizar um amanar foi a shawn johnson em 2008, antes disso, em 2007, a jade barbosa já apresentava em mundiais… grandes rivais!
This goes to show how difficult the Amanar vault really is. Simona Amanar nailed it, but the athletes after her, not so much.
She was actually really good at that vault no on was really doing then that one step she took was not even bad
