  1. People tend to forget to give her props for doing this vault. There might have been some issues on the landing and rotation, but it was HUGE to do an Amanar in 2008. Plus, she opened the door for legacy of great Amanar vaulters that now form the United States of Amanar 😂🙌🏻

  2. Shawn Johnson never had a stuck landing doing her Amanars but then, she was probably one of the few who does that during her time as it was a massive vault. Then again, Simona Amanar’s performance of her eponymous vault were disasters, though I don’t think I saw a video of her doing it more than once.

  3. It’s crazy, how consistent she landed this center mat one step like clockwork. She had excellent leg form both in the air and more impressively off the table.

  4. I didn't know she was the first. She was a gymnast with awesome power. But she's lucky she didn't destroy her knees on some of those landings – yikes.

  5. Can you imagine how hard she has worked for this? The physical pain of the failures, psychological strain… She's stronger than most women the common man knows.

  6. I feel like she twisted a bit to late after hitting the table which is why she was always landing a bit short of rotation if she would have started her twist just a tad bit earlier I think she would fully complete the 2 1/2 rotations and the landing would be great… but Shawn has always been such a great gymnast

  7. Honestly, I felt like almost all her amanars weren’t fully rotated and should not have gotten credit. She would twist nearly a quarter of the way around on the vaulting table and then pull her left shoulder around the last quarter of the way on the landing. So she cheated half of the rotation.

  8. Wtf even was that? It was like she twisted one way then just suddenly she was going the other way! How do they even keep track of where they are? It was pretty gorgeous.

  9. bizarro saber que a primeira americana a realizar um amanar foi a shawn johnson em 2008, antes disso, em 2007, a jade barbosa já apresentava em mundiais… grandes rivais!
