Ahmed Elgendy made it an Egyptian double in the individual Modern Pentathlon events in the Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Buenos Aires 2018.
The 18-year-old finished the opening Fencing round with a joint-best 266 points. A final time of 1:29.05 in Swimming collected a further 307 points heading into the final two events.
Continuing his good performance in Fencing, Elgendy finish top with 268 points in the Bonus Round to make a sixth place finish in the Laser-Run on Sunday enough to clinch Egypt’s second gold in the sport after Salma Abdelmaksoud won the women’s title.
Rounding off the men’s podium, Russia’s Egor Gromadskii claimed silver just 20 points behind Elgendy, with Ugo Fleurot of France taking bronze a further 15 points behind.
