Xherdan Shaqiri has only played five minutes of Premier League football for Liverpool so far this season and faces something of a dilemma.
And what the Switzerland midfielder can do to break into Jurgen Klopp’s table-topping side is one of the main talking points of the Blood Red podcast, featuring our Liverpool FC correspondent Paul Gorst, Theo Squires, Caoimhe O’Neill and host Sean Bradbury.
Also on the agenda is an injury update from Gorsty on Alisson and Naby Keita, news of an unexpected boost via Theo, and an assessment of some brutally honest comments from Dejan Lovren.
The panel also have the final word on Bobby Duncan before they attempt to answer the difficult question over Michael Owen, with Caoimhe summing up a number of fans’ feelings.

Klopp is smart not to add to the already bloated squad. Any one who come will have to fight for a seat on the bench. Unhappy players are looking at the situation, if someone do comes in, the unhappy ones will want to leave including the younger ones who will feel their chance will be lost if someone comes in. klopp just want the squad to play together and improve on certain aspect of their game which is lacking last season.
Gerrard's cousin's agent said during the week he and Duncan had been planning a move out of LFC since April. From what ive watched of Duncan with U18's he'll have a very tough time in Italy hes shown no patience at LFC. Being under Klopp's coaching system for 2-3yrs at 17-18yrs old gives a young player a great platform for rest of his career.
Enjoyed this discussion a lot. Just some feedback on the video side of things, the mic stands in front of your faces are distracting. Keep up the good work 😉
Actually Owen was the best goalscorer at Real Madrid when you compare minutes played. There was no way that Real would drop the home grown hero Raul though.
Owen is a legend, balloon d'Or winner at Liverpool.👏 But a tainted one. Had he come back he'd have made up with the fans…
What's this?! The Kop penetrated by MU and City fans? Trying to put negative narrative for LFC's players to see? Lets just wait until December and then you could ask about playing time. The season just started and LFC is facing hectic schedule in coming week. I'm pretty sure everyone will have playing time to rotate the squad. The 1st selection will always need a backup and these backup players are just as much important as the 1st team. Stop this nonsense now, and put out positive narrative to those backup players.
stop moaning about the international break, some people actually support their national team and its still more supported than any premier league team
The F.A cup when he destroyed Arsenal single handed, what a player💯
