Harry Kane’s importance to Tottenham Hotspur is unquestionable. But he is entering the final year of his contract, and Spurs have a choice to make: cash in on him now, or get one more year out of him and lose him for free?

Seb Stafford-Bloor makes a case for both sides of the argument. Craig Silcock illustrates.

  1. If Levy/Spurs respected him they would let him go for a sensible price rather than price him out of a move for a year. Considering he will likely get 20-30 goals per season for at least the next 3 years, I feel like 50-60m is a fair price

  2. They have to sell him…even with him they're not gonna be anywhere near the ucl places unless they get their summer signings absolutely right. The only reason they're as close as they are now is cause Liverpool and Chelsea have had off years.. I can see Tottenham easily finishing 7th next season

  3. They should try to get something for him and if possible send him somewhere he might win at a high level and get the silverware and prestige he deserves

  4. How will they fund a Kane replacement if that let him leave for nothing? The fact that it’s difficult to find a suitable replacement now is beside the point as it will also be difficult next year, the main difference being that the club will find it even harder as they won’t have got any money from selling him. Selling him now will help them rebuild the club.

  5. If Tottenham cant get him to re-sign, then they should sell him rather than lose him for nowt in 12 months. Just dont expect to pocket anywhere near £100m though……

  6. £100m realistic? I really thought this channel was better than this!
Most for a 29 year old is £57m while a 30 year old is £35m. Ronaldo at 33 was between 92-101m.

Now with that in mind Spurs can wait for 100m but more realistic would be 65-85m.

So either it’s the above, they hold for 0 in a years time or they play stupid games waiting for 100m and find out.

  7. Spurs missed out on a DoF with Ragnick and because of that, they aren't signing Nagelsman. Nagelsman knew he would be working with a rebuild post Harry Kane era.

  8. Keeping players that the players dont want to stay makes the club look weak.

Look at pep. Cancelo wasn't up to standards / dressing room disagreements, straight away out the door. In the future u will see how much the players are scared of guardiola and fear being irrelevant. Fergie was the same. At this rate i can see pep taking over fergie's record of 13 titles.

  10. kane should have left Spurs after the Champions League final … Nobody is willing to pay that money for him ..

  11. They should have loaned Kane out for a season so he got the taste of glory.
Move him to a classic number 10 role and buy a classic number 9 out and out striker. You see how deep he likes to move.

  12. They're screwed should have taken what coty offered no one is paying more than 60-70 million for him and that is on the high side.

  13. If Kane doesnt want to sign then Spurs should sell him, what is the use of ppaying samething next season, atleast start from zero with low expectations.

  14. Keep a possibly unmotivated Kane who wanted to leave ages ago and hope he will perform. That could work because of his age and willingness to show other premier league clubs his worth a big contract. But he already guarantees goals. I don't think any club mad enough to pay anything close to 100m. 60-70m plus addons maybe. United and chelsea are the most likely destination for him. They can hope later one is mad enough to splash the cash.
