βœ… Tyrell Malacia believes he and Marcus Rashford ‘energize each other’ on the left, while the Dutchman detailed his relationship with striker and fellow left-back Luke Shaw.

Malacia left Feyenoord for United in a deal worth Β£14.7m last summer, becoming Erik ten Hag’s first signing in charge at the club.

The 23-year-old played a supporting role for the experienced Shaw, but still racked up 24 appearances from 30 games overall.

The youngster impressed when called up – sometimes with Shaw switched to fullback – and quickly developed a strong relationship with Rashford on the left, his energy in the overlap opening up spaces for the in-form striker to work his magic.

We give each other energy, we talk to each other a lot, and in the dressing room we sit next to each other,” Malacia told MUTV about Rashford. β€œWe have a good connection, that’s important and you can see that on the pitch.”

And of his relationship with Shaw, the Dutchman said: β€œIt’s the same as with Marcus – we have a good connection and we talk a lot with each other. He’s been here for a long time and he knows how everything works on the pitch and with the club.

If I have questions, I can always ask him and he helps me.”

That left wing has been key to United’s success this season, with his form since the return of the World Cup delivering Ten Hag’s side a Carabao Cup trophy and a place in the final stages of two more major competitions.

The Reds face Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-finals ahead of an FA Cup semi-final clash with Brighton at Wembley.

It’s been a strong debut season in England for Malacia, but the defender is keen to build on early successes and remains ambitious with his goals for the race.

We have a good team, with good qualities, but we have to be focused and keep improving”, he added. “Everything is possible.”
