I discuss the latest Arsenal news, reacting to the news that William Saliba and Oleksandr Zinchenko have been ruled out for the season due to injury. I look at what Mikel Arteta could do in Zinchenko’s absence and the role Kieran Tierney could have. I also discuss comments made by Thomas Partey.
Tierney should stay on the left full back position, hug the touch line and bomb up and down the left side of the pitch. He's a better defender compared to Zinchenko, he defends very well and Arteta should allow him do what he knows how to do well. Ben white can do that inverted role very well because he use to play in the DM role for Brighton and Leeds in the past and he played that role very well, we've seen John Stones in that inverted role for City and Trent Alexander Arnold for Liverpool playing that inverted role from their right back position for their respective clubs. Why not Ben White.
Can you remind me when Tierney has played (a) played the Zinchenko role like for like and (b) played it badly? To my mind he’s played more of a hybrid, drifting inside occasionally but also bombing down the wings. He’s also twice the defender Zinchenko is. Feel the criticism is a little bit harsh. When he has underperformed (West Ham etc) it’s had nothing to do with his inability play inverted
I can tell you right now, this injury might be a career altering injury for Saliba. He might never be the same therefore we need to plan now for a future CB main man. Sadly I feel Saliba might not be that guy. Secondly we should not try to fight for that midfield against Brighton.
Saliba might never play again, who knows. I remember thinking it looked a really awkward injury and the spine is a sensitive thing. Might be delaying the contract issue too. Hopefully not though, he's a great player.
Can't agree about Saliba – not in any way. Is it me or am I the only one who recalls Saliba going off form from Feb onwards starting losing possession, strikers started to go past him, positionally found wanting (Watkins)? He definitely was this super centre back till the world cup but definitely NOT after it. Obvious he's brilliant and defensively when he was on his game we were solid but the truth is not after new year. Am I the only one who sees that ?? And you're laying his absence as the reason for our collapse – it's not – it's Arteta's decision making tactically and poor selections that has caused that. I know you love Arteta Charles but c'mon bit of honesty here would not go amiss.
Haaland has the strength and ball-playing of Vieira with the predatory finishing of Puskás and the power of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink but the flair of Zico. A unique and mesmerising talent. I can't get over that he's only 22!!! He's seasoned already. I hope that he doesn't get injured and City are forced to sell him to us when they're docked points and competitions over ffp..the dream…..
Despite his silky skills, still think Zinchenko has been at fault for numerous goals we have conceded. Would prefer to have Tierney for his defensive abilities.
Now Tierney goes down my guess. We have too many players who you can rely on. Saliba with dodgy back may join that list. If he doesn't sign and isn't fit we sitting on a loss of 80million. Bit odd his injury
Last season Arteta kept saying there was a lack of chemistry with Tierney and Martinelli. For me he needs to bring in ESR or use Trossard and allow Tierney to do what he does best. Arteta has shown in the past that he can adapt the style per game, especially in his first season. I just worry he isn't prepared to.
Tierney was problem at West Ham because no one trusted in tight spaces. Down to Arteta. Arteta done great job in main but he blew the title with lots of bad demand lack of them
Imo if KT is starting then trossard is probably the better option at LW cutting inside and filling the spaces that Xhaka usually does, and have Xhaka filling the spaces that zinny usually does
Arsenal needs to play ▶️ with confidence to keep on winning matches. The Arsenal fans needs to support the Gunners to help them win 🏆 matches God willing. COYG to beat Brighton and Hove Albion God willing. Arsenal rocks 🏆 🙏 🤲 🕍 🪨 🎸.
Haaland I hate to say it but he's like the Brock Lesnar off football, I didn't mean in size I mean in dominance. Even out legendary back four would have trouble to deal with him, we have to find someone like that in midfield, we won't find another striker like him because it doesn't happen. Henry was the best in his generation, same for all the G.O.A.T's, same in other sports too. We have to wait for the next generation to find the next best thing. What we can do is became great as a collective squad, like Liverpool did. 👍👍
Arsenal is second already hoping g for City to slip up. So they can play with no pressure. We ottled the too spot so players remaining can see the season out. It will take a miracle for City to mess it up

Do back injuries ever really heal? He is very young to be having back problems.
Haaland shouldn't be allowed to play with the kids. he should have to go and play with the bigger boys his own age. It's just cheating, really.
This is a blessing in disguise. Arteta won't bench Zinchenko despite his defensive mistakes.
PL Title race is over anyway so injuries wont make any difference
This is where Artets needs to be brave because we all know the "Tweak" needed for KT … Martinelli off ESR on …

Arsenal fans 🤝 Short term memory

With KT in, I wonder if we see Trossard over Martinelli now. He can play that interior role and let KT stay wide
Can you not ask Ben White to do the Zinchenko role and simply swap the sides on the inverted fullbacks ?
KT needs minutes 🔴⚪️
Tierney to do Tierney
Haarland: Rudiger
Tweak!!!
Have Ben White as the inverted full back from RB. He is comfortable playing in midfield as a CDM.
Saliba I've made peace with.
Zinny out an absolute hammer blow, KT is nowhere near our standard. A real handicap to have him on the pitch.
I think tierney is better with esr on the left

Can't see a problem without Zinchenko – rather a fit and willing Tierney any day of the week. We should have enough going forward without him

Don't be surprised if Artera plays Xhaka as the inverted LB.
I don't like the way Zini is frequently out with injuries…

thanks
I prefer KT he is the more stable player we have more balance at the back

lets get the halaand region and go grab sorloth from Sociedad
Xhaka has shown to be an awesome defender. I agree that Xhaka should drop back when Tierney goes forward.
Imo if KT is starting then trossard is probably the better option at LW cutting inside and filling the spaces that Xhaka usually does, and have Xhaka filling the spaces that zinny usually does
Tierney’s pace an asset…too bad Mitoma’s on the other side…pace & trickery will challenge Wite
