West Ham’s 1-0 victory against Southampton was good news and lifted The Hammers to the dizzy heights of 14th in the Premier League. With a goal from Nayef Aguerd and good performances from Lucas Paqueta, Thilo Kehrer and Declan Rice it was payback time for manager David Moyes from West Ham’s summer transfers.

Need to drop soucek and have a front two of scamacca and ings imo
I must’ve been watching the wrong game. Paqueta was brutal. He runs about a lot and puts in a few tackles but he is too often caught in possession and his passing is well off. Declan gave him a bollocking at one stage because he fell asleep and gave the ball away in a dangerous position. Downes is better all round. Coufal is waaaay better than Kerher. What is scamaccas problem? He’s another flop.
I’ve a feeling we’ll beat the toon on Wednesday and we’ll start clawing back our form.
Lets get behind the manager and the team and enjoy the rest of the season.
Soucek brings nothing to the team, his passing is awful and he just ambles around
Ings runs his proverbial nuts off upfront to no avail as there's no-one within 20 yards of him, Moyes is ruining another striker
We got lucky
Agree with most of your analysis. Particularly Soucek as against Downes. Can’t fathom why Soucek is selected these days. Nothing like the player who joined us anymore.
I like soucek as a person but when he plays it’s almost like playing with 10 men
Relieved for the 3pts rather than impressed with the performance, any other team we would not have got such a result I feel, need to start playing with 2 strikers and have Declan as the 1 holding midfielder
If we win every game here on out and we win the EC, Moyes absolutely cannot stay. We have decent to good players. They’re poor because of him. Please bring us a new manager, and let’s stick Moyes in a red glassed box with a hammer dangling by a chain next to it at West Ham towers, with a sign on it that says “if in relegation trouble after March, break glass.”
Moyes is so f-ing dumb. I reckon a fair chunk of management/tactically minded fans would have done a better job if they'd been given a shot, or at least allowed to make some suggestions.
He just doesn't think of anything creative or different or interesting. It's failed mostly all season.
The way he plays a very out of form Soucek week in week out, instead of a great passer/ball keeper in Downes.
Or never playing Fornals, who was one of out great players in the previous two seasons. Or refusing to play Antonio in his natural position (winger) in combination with either of the new strikes.
Eurgh!
I am sorry to say but Danny Ings is like a man driving a tractor down the M1
I think alot of people have fell Into the same trap you seem to have fell in Gonzo.
There was hardly nothing to be happy about that game……its the fact we have been so poor for so long we are clutching at straws for any positives we give a false sense of ' turning the corner'.
Just wait , Newcastle will tear us apart!!!
Unless Moyes changes he's way of thinking….and based on previous games I don't see it happening.
It will be a horrible wake up call…….to little to late!!!
Rah for VAR!
I would like to see if Ings bought more into the game without Soucek on the pitch. If we have Downes the Paqueta can link more and Rice can be more box to box. If it is Fornals the passing therefore the movement should improve.
Just dreaming.
They faded and died a lot this season.
God forbid we laujnch an attack. Sorry Gonzo, that game was awful. Yes we won and got 3 points, but play like that on Wednesday, and Championship football looms. We have a really tough run in
Paqueta had a decent game, got stuck in and showed some quality at times but in my opinion he isn't the 60 million pound player we were hoping for. Aguerd was excellent as was the back 5 to be fair, Kehrers best game. Felt for Ings, he hasn't got the legs to be a solo striker but any one with a brain could have told you that just by looking at his strengths and weaknesses from his career, pity Moyes doesn't seem to check a players previous strengths, weaknesses and roles in previous teams before he buys them!
🥰😍😘
Having watched us on Sunday beating Southampton somehow?A win is a win but generally speaking Southampton are so far the worst team we’ve played at home this season. However, not only did we make hard work of it,it was a boring match to watch, especially start of the second half which pretty much mirrored the start of the first half.We played with no pace, laboured and didn’t move the ball quickly enough.Ings no real point on him being in this side the way Moyes wants us to play, but it also makes him look a shit player too.Soucek not able to make 3 yard passes, kept on breaking down any progressive play we had ,got in the way and couldn’t as said even tackle,I had him down as Saints best player.
Wind the clock forward and I watched most of Everton v Spuds on Monday night,Everton were on it and more so with 10 men,and were unlucky and deserved 3pts.They attacked the Spuds albeit with around 40% possession, but they broke with pace and pinned back the spuds especially when they went behind. The Spuds looked dare I say it ,it bit like us ,slow moving the ball forward and laboured in possession, how they are 4th in the league is beyond me playing like that.Everton under Dyche will survive no doubt there’s another relegation rival we can chalk off.
Such a bad game, only won because it was the Saints
Love these results, I’ve missed the deluded West Ham fans with delusions of grandeur
