Probably because Arsenal had made an inquiry but couldn’t get the player at the price they wanted to pay. Prob only made it public to put more pressure on selling club

is it really a suprise that we went for Luiz? Elneny does not really get injured. Could it be a possibility that the club had plans to get Luiz on a free transfer but had to change their minds after Elneny's long term injury. These lot are talking about getting better players but never mentioned any names. At least put some names forward
