South Korea coach Paulo Bento has apologised for being sent off following his side’s 3-2 defeat to Ghana on Monday in World Cup Group H.

Bento was left fuming when English referee Anthony Taylor blew the final whistle before South Korea could take a corner.

“I want to apologise. Despite thinking I was right, which I still think, my reaction wasn’t good,” said Bento.

Having rallied from 2-0 down before Ghana’s 68th-minute winner, the defeat leaves South Korea on the brink of elimination ahead of their final group game against Portugal on Friday.

Bento is suspended for the match but he insisted his absence would have no bearing on the final outcome.
