  1. I read in a Street Fighting manga that the main benefit of a spin kick is that it's very hard to throw a conventional counter at it because the body is turned away from you.

  2. I'm just a blue belt in TKD, but I've held those thick cushions when our red and black belts are showing off, and it hurts. I've also held the cushion for our 5. Dan master, and it really hurt. TKD has a point system and you generally prioritize light touches, but those kicks can be brutal when thrown hard.

  3. You gotta understand, a black belt in TKD is traditionally based on 3 years of 5 90-minute classes per week. If you look at a Jiu Jitsu blue belt, that’s about the equivalent, but to earn your masters, that’s closer to what other martial arts would call a black belt which can take between 15 and 20 years.

  4. Used to do tae kwon do as a kid, I once asked one of the older brown belts to kick me full force in the gut. Even with the padded vest it was one of the most painful things I've experienced

  5. And there are guys that give an F to taekwondo used for self defence. Now imagine that situation when someone is trying to steal from you or stuff…The stealer literally gets his ass kicked 100%…Thing that with BJJ, that is considered one of the best self defence martial art, will probably try to get the guy to the ground and if he is quick enough he will get to run with your things…You never expect a kick in your face, a hand maybe, so that is part of the efficiency of taekwondo, a normal person, even a belt holder from another martial art, never expects a foot in his forehead with such power that can make you remember your entire life in a moment 😂

  6. I dunno, isn't Tae Kwon Do and Karate basically the same thing? With TKD adding a few spinning kicks to generate extra power and reach at the expense of more vulnerability. About as close as any two styles can get.

  7. Love your videos but the pov was too infrequent. I am not fighting anyone too old too slow and not trained at all But it seemed at times that you could have easily closed the gap and knocked him over when he was spinning on one ft also seemed you could have grabbed the front kicks and with aggressive forward movement overwhemled or pushed him over as he was on one foot for what seemed like ages Was that because he was holding back. Or is grappling not allowed

  8. I have sparred junior Olympians. This guy definitely gives off the same vibes he never went close to 100 percent. You were also playing street fighter only going forward and back.. If you would have stepped around you might have had a chance to get a point or you would have found out how those spinning back kicks work.

The spinning back kick is the biggest joke to most people but everyone gets hit by them. They are too fast and strong.

Also almost every high black belt in tkd I know has taken a crap load of boxing.

  9. A lot of people forget that Taekwondo was combat tested during the Vietnam War by Korean soldiers. They were known to be quite menacing and undoubtedly had very successful close combat history from the war. Although my father did say that the Taekwondo taught for the public and the military are different, I think it still goes to how that Taekwondo if taught and used correctly is anything but useless.

  10. i train TKD and I honestly respect every martial art but fr here u dont really have to be that good to get to another belt. Its kinda sad seeing all those lazy, 0 motivation kids get a blue belt :/

  11. I'm a taekwondo guy, I've been doing it for 20 years but I'm an ITF style and I think WTF is a piece of crap because I love punching people in the face when I spar.

  12. I love how everyone makes fun of TKD wearing a lotta gear, but never questions why we have to wear so much. It's cause kicks can be go from 0 to 100 and go super fast outta nowhere with a whole lotta power behind them
