Welcome to a very special Euro Football Daily video. To celebrate the return of the Ukrainian Premier League this week we’ve been given special access to Shakhtar Donetsk.
We speak to club captain Taras Stepanenko and Marketing Director Alex Mamalya about the War in Ukraine, the effects of the Russian invasion and what the return of football means to the people of this country.
Were FIFA right to allow Ukrainian players to suspend their contracts? What inspiration have they taken from the likes of Zinchenko and Mykolenko? What are their expectations ahead of their return to the Champions League?
Enjoy the video and please show your support by donating to Pitch In For Ukraine, the charity that organised our access and which is providing humanitarian support to the victims of the Russian invasion.

FIFA f** Ukraine Football just Like Biden did with Ukraine
Donetsk is a city not currently controlled by Ukraine. It has been part of the self proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" since 2014. Since 2014 the city, including it's civilians have been bombed almost daily by Ukrainian forces, whilst the Kyiv government claims that that the people of Donetsk are its own.
If you are already making a video on a football club originally from Donetsk, maybe you should consider supporting the people of Donetsk, and not the ones shelling the city center of Donetsk.
Man u can see in my man dougies face it’s hard to hear, hard to stomach. My prayers go out to you guys in Ukraine from an American. Sad to see us pumping money for u guys to fight a war for us against our enemy.
