With a squad full of Barça B players, Xavi and company managed to score a 1-0 win over Mallorca thanks to Luuk de Jong’s header. There was plenty to talk about even with just one goal, including the midfield trio that included Riqui Puig plus Frenkie de Jong as the pivot, another showing for Ilias Akhomach, and the incredible save from ter Stegen.

  1. Luuk was impressive, his best game ever. Whatever Xavi told him worked well. Frankie was very comfortable in CDM position, arguably holds the position better than Busquets

  2. This game was really important all things considered….. especially with so many key players missing, so many youngsters then we go out there and do enough to beat the opponent on the day after knowing there were a couple of favorable results for us by those we're contending for fourth with.

It was a real team effort and a win like this should galvanize their beliefs in themselves, Xavi and Laporta's project to date. Looking forward to continued improvements.
    Forca Barca!!!

  3. If Luuk play like this he could honestly be a plan B option when things dont go right, or somebody is rested. He deserve credit today, and also Marc with the strong hands

  4. Dan Eric Garcia is slowly improving silently our decision to keep the Garcia backing will for sure pay off in 2 years. It's crazy how he improves with every game was he like this in the academy too? I mean he was the captain for a reason I guess

  5. Matches likes this is why the Super League idea is still alive. Imagine, LaLiga, this is one of maybe 3 of your showcase teams, and this is the product you present to the world. A horribly ugly match interrupted with incessant dives, flops, whistles, and fouls. Absolutely no flow, no rhythm. Now contrast this with the EPL this past weekend: ManCity/Arsenal, Chelsea/LFC, even Leeds/Burnley, all incredibly entertaining matches of back-and-forth football. LaLiga? No. You get dives flops and stoppage. ALL THE TIME. Sure, Barca scraped 3 points playing in what amounted to a division 5 (does it exist) match, but at what price? Surely, no genuine football fan is going to tune-in to ESPN+ to watch another match of this trash caliber. LaLiga needs to fix their product ASAP, or Super League is what is needed.

  6. I'm sorry, I am flat-out opposed to the "extra-touches" criticisms. If anything, Puig's problem is that he reflexively tries to play the pass back far too often (and it gets him into trouble). There is too much pass-play infecting the game. We went from an era of Iniesta, Xavi, Messi, Neymar to having 1 consistent, and fabulously entertaining, dribbler in Pedri. Now, when you encounter an excellent dribbler like Bernardo Silva, Salah, Messi and Neymar of course, even Vinicious, they are stand-outs… because their ilk is disappearing from the game. Bring back the 1v1 magic.
