Nick Wright, Chris Broussard and Kevin Wildes react to news that the Green Bay Packers have officially traded Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. The Packers receive the 13th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, a 2023 second-round pick (No. 42), a sixth-round pick (No. 207) and a conditional 2024 second-round pick that will become a first if Rodgers plays 65% of plays this upcoming season.

Yes, Nick is right, Jets overspent. Considering the fact that Packers wanted to get rid of him so much, Jets didn't have to give them more than some conditional pick. Favre went for much less and Favre still had two seasons in him. Rodgers might retire after one year.

Aaron Rodgers is no Tom Brady . I don’t see this amazing turn around for the Jets that they are hoping for . Rodgers is really good at blowing it when it counts most and that is entirely on him not the players around him . I think he would have been better off retiring and if this season plays out the way I expect they will I think he will have no choice but to retire

Rodgers is only good with extraordinary receivers, and when he has them, he uses them to get a high passing percentage to the point of sacrificing games to get it. He will go to NY and aim for his safe plays to try and win mvp while blaming everyone around him for not winning games. He has zero motivation to win.All he does is just bring drama wherever he goes.
Don't forget the very important fact that the jets have to pay him. That is the biggest part of the trade! We just unloaded 35 million dollars of cap space! Enjoy the drama NY it will begin….now.
For anybody to think that he in anyway he’s going to follow in Brady‘s footsteps is ridiculous. Tom Brady is eternal, and shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence with Rodgers. Unless the Jets make it to the Super Bowl next year (unlikely to get past the Bengals, Chiefs/Bills), then nope, this was not a good move.
Both teams wasted their time. NYJ ain't going to win sh.. GB compensation won't solve their problems either. GB needs a covered stadium, and new management. New coach. Rodgers, for the sake of the NFL, should have gone to SF or TB. He got the worst deal. First time he gets hit, he will cash in the season. Only athletic QBs really have an option in brutal cold weather. That's why the Pack always stunk at home post season.
And with Buffalo & Miami in the division & both strong SB contenders, Green Bay has a very strong chance of getting a decent #1 pick next year…
