Thomas Müller is one of the most unique players in world football. He’s so special, they had to invent a position just for him: the Raumdeuter. He’s also one of the few footballers who’s clearly not afraid to be himself. For all his goofball antics, and his hard-to-define style of play, plenty of people forget just how good he is. But the World Cup and Champions League winner isn’t just one of modern football’s most unique attackers, he’s clearly one of its best. Is he also the most underrated out there? Tell us what you think…

  1. Lot of people say he is not technically gifted, which is probably because he always looks goofy but his first touches are out of this world. Just look how many times he creates goal scoring opportunities for his team mates with one ball contact only. Watched him in his very first game for Bayern in the stadium and love him ever since. I remember very well when people wrote him off when he wasn’t playing under Kovac and even this season when he didn’t play the first leg against PSG there were comments that his time has come but he just proves it over and over again.

  2. You don’t win 2 Champions League, one World Cup being the top scorer, and 11 Bundesligas with luck mate, he is one of the best players in the world

  3. I am a chelsea fan, one of the reason chelsea wins the game in 2012 champions leage final is because bayern subs out thomas after he scores. the desicion that until today I cannot understand.

  4. No wonder Germany won the world cup back in 2014. Imagine having players like Schweinsteiger, Lahm, Ozil, Kroos, Gotze, and Muller, they all have 'special' abilities to read the game and make a play so effectively. But especially for Muller, he can also apply his 'space reading' ability not only to make assists but also to position himself in advantageous position and finish off chances. He's also not a bad shot taker from what I've seen of him.

  5. He's football's equivalent of John Wick: "a a man of focus, commitment, sheer will." There's an algorithmic precision to his style of play—he knows what he has to do and does when he needs to.

  6. I don't think he's underrated. He was a world class player from around 2011 to 2017 and won everything. Just looking at his numbers should confirm that. However, he's approaching the end of his career. He's still very good and valuable but he's no longer world class.
