Great podcast! Finally one that talks about the Iran National Team 🇮🇷❤️
There were many things wrong with our team but most importantly we have an issue resisting pressure put on our defense by better teams to the extent that we cannot easily transition from defense to attack. Our defenders do not know how to pass the ball out of the defense when under press against better sides – especially players like Milad and Aref. We really need to have better preparation games against bigger teams so that we can at least learn to counter properly after transition. You guys made a good point in the podcast as well…we dont have enough quality players playing in Europe especially defenders so that they are used to this fast and pressing football. Our football by nature is always slow…we don't move the ball around fast like teams such as Korea and Japan.
Whole heartedly disagree on the Skocic situation, we’re gonna get a max of 2 points in the world cup under Skocic with his PGPL level of tactics, Skocic has done his job but has also shown he can’t compete with teams of similar caliber (and especially not higher in the WC) and I predicted this right when he was hired considering his resume, it definitely is late to sack but shouldn’t be ruled out totally. I think the risk of hiring a legitimate manager and having a chance to actually compete against big teams is worth the risk and i’d rather take that chance than pretty much gauranteed go in the world cup and do nothing as usual which i’m pretty confident unfortunately will happen with Skocic
I pray that maybe one day we will have a few midfielders playing in Europe. Anywhere in Europe. Anywhere.
