Paul Tenorio from The Athletic and ESPN’s Jon Champion join Banter with Taylor Twellman to discuss the future of Newcastle United and USMNT defender DeAndre Yedlin. Tenorio says Yedlin has expressed interest in leaving the Magpies, but is concerned by his “hefty wages.” Champion says the ownership takeover at Newcastle could affect his status with the club and chances at leaving.

  1. Jon Champion is incorrect although the Government are under pressure, they have already ruled out intervening. In regards, to the fit and proper test, he is correct in respect to Sheffield United, that the horse has bolted.

In regards to the Human rights record although troubling it is as far as I am aware not part of the test and the EPL would face serious problems if they reject the takeover based on Saudi Arabia being involved considering the previous and that Manchester United have been funded by Saudi Arabia for 12 years.

What will be interesting is seeing what happens when the EPL rights for MENA come up for tender as to whether Bein Sports are able to retain and not get gazumped by the Saudis and more importantly whether the chairman and owner of Bein Sports does not get convicted of rights violations by the Swiss Authorities which could lead to further trouble in both in respect to PSG, Bein Sports and UEFA more generally.

  2. As a NUFC fan, I reckon we need to bring in a quality RB. Unfortunately Yedlin, Kraft and Manquillo are not quite good enough. I would keep Manquillo as a backup as he can also play LB. I suspect Yedlin has the USMNT to think about and thus would need to be playing regularly. I reckon Spain or Championship would be good for him. All speculation though until the takeover is confirmed

  3. This is a American racist set up systemic racism.Just because he don't want to play for a racist government ain't that some dictatorship.
