Germany as the incumbent who won the 2014 World Cup surprisingly lost to South Korea at the Kazan Arena, Russia, Wednesday (27/06/2018). The final result of Germany vs. South Korea in the final match of Group F of the 2018 World Cup was completed with a score of 0-2 for the defeat of the Panzer team. The curse for the reigning champion was still continuing. Two late South Korean goals scored by Kim Young-Gwon and Son Heung-Min in injury time completely destroyed Joachim Low’s squad. Although South Korea still did not qualify for the round of 16, the victory over a team as big as Germany is certainly an achievement and pride for this Asian representative. Thus, those who are entitled to advance to the knockout phase representing Group F are Sweden and Mexico. Meanwhile, Germany and South Korea must immediately pack up leaving Russia. The elimination of Germany adds to the poor record of the reigning champions in the last four World Cup editions (2010, 2014 and 2018) which have never progressed from the group stage.
