    Barcelona faces a stressful week ahead as they race against the clock to register new players before the season opener against Rayo Vallecano.

    So far, the club has been unable to register any of the new players due to their massive wage bill. To balance the books, the Catalans want to offer extended contracts to some of its current stars, which will include a wage decrease.

    Frenkie de Jong is one of the players in line for a pay cut, and Barcelona has already increased their efforts to persuade the midfielder to accept a pay reduction.

    However, after denying leaving Barcelona in the summer and refusing to accept a pay reduction, the Dutchman’s relationship with the fans looks to have reached rock bottom. It became clear earlier today when the midfielder was abused on his approach to Ciutat Esportiva.

      Funny how barca keeps buying player like almost 150 mil, but asking their current players to reduce their wages..

      Barca should follow milan strategy..
      Milan doesn’t buy any expensive players for the last two years..
      Only fikayo (28 mil), maignan (15 mil)..
      Milan also didn’t give their players huge wages (only ibra i think their highest paid players)..
      And when the contracts ends, milan only offer slight raise, and if they don’t accept it, milan not bother if they’re become free agent..
      Thats a healthy management by milan, barca should learn from milan..

      It’s weird how they sign all these players have no money let Leo go ask de jong to move to another club but owe him 17 mill then want him to settle for 6 mill at this point If I was him I would just stay to fuck them over because they way the treat him is crazy just Gareth bale then and fuck them over in registration of new players

      They should blame to the management for taking such huge risk to signed lot new player, they should focus to tried to fix the player contract problem without direspecting the player because that was the player right to be paid same as in the contract they have signed & at the end of the day that was management fault to give such a ridiculous contract to non profitable player

      What FC Barcelona is doing to Frenkie de Jong is just shameful. A stain that will taint the club forever…

      AND do not make the mistake of comparing Piquet, Busquets, and Ter Stegen taking a pay cut with Frenkie de Jong taking a pay cut! Piquet, Busquets, and Ter Stegen have been playing for FC Barcelona on ULTRA HIGH WAGES for a decade or more. These players are almost at the end of their careers! They have accumulated around 180-200 million minimum each in the past years. Their future is set.

      If I was them and I was asked to lower my contract I would be happy to do so as well! Of course! Thx to FC Barcelona I am now a multi-multi millionaire. Why should I not help the club that gave me all this wealth?

      Frenkie was not a set-for-life player when he was new at Barca in 2019. He did NOT have hundreds of millions in the bank when he joined. Frenkie had ALL of the best teams in the world to choose from when he chose Barcelona FC, which was then at a low too. He believed in making his dream club great again. He signed his first high-paying contract with the club and he was asked a year later to take a salary payment deferral, which he did!

      He was offered a new contract that lasts till 2026, in which his deferred payments would be paid as of the 2022-23 season and he would be rewarded end-of-contract bonuses when nearing 2026.

      Here comes the 2022-23 season, and FC Barcelona is telling him that they need to sell him… And that Frenkie can say goodbye to his deferred salary payments, totaling around 17! million, AND that he must take a pay cut if he wants to stay at the club because 7 new players that were bought for hundreds of millions have to be registered! WHAT?!?!? IS Laporta a completely deranged senile man??? Who would accept this?

      AND, FC Barcelona is turning the Cules, the fans, against Frenkie de Jong as well! They are making him a pariah! Blame him for not being able to register new players! They literally start bullying Frenkie de Jong by hinting that they will not let him play if he does not take the pay cut and waves the deferral payments. AND they are even threatening Frenkie de Jong with a criminal court case!!!

      THE PLAYER HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG! He is still one of the best midfielders in the game, also at FC Barcelona, and he wants his legal contract respected. The contract that FC Barcelona offered him when it needed Frenkie's help…

      If I was Frenkie de Jong, I would stay put and have Laporta clean up his own sh*t. I would NOT take a pay cut and get every single penny that I am legally owed. And btw., this is also a nice precedent to all the other FC Barcelona players… If FC Barcelona can do this to Frenkie de Jong, then FC Barcelona can do this to them too…
