This is like watching Heathers only it's for soccer
Imagine scoring goals for Dortmund then coming back to America and having to deal with this nonsense. It takes an incredible amount of incompetence to alienate arguably your best player.
This is so dumb. His parents handled this situation bad but it doesn’t magically make him not our most talented player. I hate our federation. Herq is pretty garbage too.
Who cares? Way too much drama for a mid player.
Gio reyna isnt that good lol his attributes are bang avg
There is no need to find excuses for Gio. He didn't have a good 2 games, at all. Maybe he will come around eventually but he did not impress.
No cap pepi has been impressive
Gio is an incredibly high iq player surrounded by some incredibly low iq players including Pulisic. I completely get his frustration. If he is not careful this US team might stunt his growth.
Zendejas was really good in limited minutes in the first game. Second game was really disappointing. Got man handled off the ball a bunch of times. Bad passes………
He's only 20 years old . He's still very young . He has enough time to develop into a better player . Give him a break ffs
Was Reyna on the field during this last window? Oh yeah, he strung together a little run at the start of the second half against El Salvador. Other than that he was a complete non-factor in these games. He plays with a frustrating level of ambivalence on the pitch. I can see why he's not starting at Dortmund right now. The kid needs to sort out his game. Maybe it's a confidence or fitness issue.
Maybe I'm being daft, but wasn't Reyna far and away one of the best performers of the second game? He controlled the game whenever he was on the ball. He didn't score, but he definitely seemed like the most dangerous guy, outside of the goal by Pepi. His first game wasn't that great, but it wasn't horrible either.
Gio got better as the game went on. Don’t think his stock raised or was lowered
Gio is amazing
El Salvador?
We need +, -, o. Three options. In that case Gio is a o.
He had a pretty good game against
El Salvador, can't say the same thing about the three guys in front of him though. They were pretty bad.
real talk, Gio's stock has to be down. put whatever happened with his parents aside. that's done. now he's had chances to start and he's been lack luster at best.
Herc's face doesn't look yellow enough next to Sebastien's.
Y'all over hype his talent. He's good, but you make it seem like he's Mbappe lol
Luca de la Torre has been solid 🔥
Ricardo pepi it’s ok but you give him credit like if he is embape! It’s not that good her!!
I really liked the Booth to Pepi combo. It was excellent and is like to see more of these two.
What position he play?
Gio was one of our better players last night
Every time I see Gio Play it seems he just doesn’t give the effort. It looks as if he’s playing at 60-70%, he doesn’t have that aggressiveness or atleast doesn’t seem like he does.
I notice some things about Gio outside his play. In the first game, he wasn't singing the national anthem or having his hand over his heart(not saying this is required) and he didn't celebrate Pepi's first goal. In this game, he did both of those things and he also had more bounce on the field. He felt disinterested in the first game compared to this one.
The truth is, with the recent economy. Everyone needs more than their salary to be financially stable. The best thing to do with your money is to invest it properly, because money left for savings always ends up being used with no return.✅
They beat " Granada" great! Still weak at the #9 position! Midfield is still average at best and the defence is still unstable!
Gio seems to be in a similar position to pulisic, in regards to the fanbase. They both seem to have these fanboys who give them way too much credit, regardless of their actual performance. Gio felt invisible both games. A little better in the second game, but mostly irrelevant. If we are going to be running w a 10 going forward, I'd rather see Aaronson start over Gio in games of consequence. Aaronson might not have the same level of technical skill as Gio. But his energy, work rate, and pressing feels way more beneficial then what Gio is currently providing.
Some talented players aren’t worth the trouble they cause the team. Right now Reyna is one of those players.
Only reason Reyna is at Dortmund is they want to sell jerseys and gain supporters in the US. He is a MLS caliber player.
Gio could have scored 8 goals and some people would still say it wasn't good enough. He was the best player on the pitch against El Salvador without question. He was the only one who created any chances at all before the Pepi goal
Reyna has 4 goals and 1 assist in his first 8 apps (7 starts, 1 sub app.)….0 goals and 0 assists in his last 10 appearances (4 starts, 6 substituted appearances).
Reyna is talented but overhyped.
Whether Gio's stock is up or down doesn't really matter to me.. Where's this stiff competition that Sebs talking about is what I want to know? In a 4-2-3-1 who else is there to play the 10? Mckennie? Aaronson? Confused as to the stiff competition
The more Pepi, Gio and others that Gregg didnt play, continue to do well, the more Gregg looks bad as a coach. This USMNT deserves a better and more trustworthy coach for the upcoming World Cup.
Gio was evidently our best player vs El Salvador (the real opponent we played)
Everyone hating on Gio are acting like there’s some uber talented midfielder ahead of him. He’s better than any other US midfielder, Musah is meh, McKennie is meh except on set pieces and Adams is good defensively but he’s poor in the attack. Gio still does things that none of our other supposedly better “starters” can do. Yeah, he’s not the second coming of Messi, but he’s still the most talented high ceiling offensive player. He should absolutely be a lock as a starter. McKennie has a few goals but the other mids contribute nothing offensively, Adams obviously does well defensively, but the US needs more skill/talent centrally to help break down opponents that park the bus. Something the USMNT struggled with big time in qualifying.
Why is Seb gold?
Now u guys are just using the dude for clicks. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Reyna stock went up this window for sure
Reyna was the best player in the second game.
I actually don’t mind when Reyna throws his hands up in frustration if a teammate makes the wrong decision. It’s okay to expect excellence from many of the players here. I’d rather a player show his frustration at other players failing to be excellent than be stoic. We see that type of frustration all the time from European club squads. Players get frustrated at each other, it’s very, VERY normal.
We like how he was dribbling elsalvado left and right. The great thing about his game is that he can create spaces for strikers to score or shoot.
Think ppl need to stop bigging Reyna up. It only feeds his ego and is not helpful in bringing him down to earth.
Hércules doesnt like Reyna? 😅
Reinaldo is The Man our #10
