  1. He does that to adjust his timing and gain some sort of momentum for weighted passes. Its more of his instincts though. Other players may do that too. Gonna be a club Legend.

  2. He does that to help him calculate and anticipate the next 3 steps that allow him to cross/pass correctly and that sometimes is really helpful when you want to pass with the right amount of force. In the end it is a safer base for him to work on.

  3. It's to help him time his run better and cross at the right time. The little hop allows him to change is stride pattern and cross the ball with his left foot. I bet Dalot does something similar when he crosses on the run like this.

  4. I think it's just how he feels comfortable setting his feet before the pass. If you jump you can control exactly where you plant your feet so you can strike the ball from the angle you want

  5. As a defender of you see Shaw jump you might as well start walking back to ur starting position cuz the balls about to end up in the back of the net

  6. 2 things. Helps him get into the perfect stride/position for a good cross and then also it can throwoff the opposing players judgement on when the cross is coming in.

  7. That jump step he makes also has to do with the fact that his run sometimes won't get him in the perfect position step wise for a good pass.

In order not to lose time on a dribble he basically keeps the same step whilst retaining pace which in turn allows him to change his step to a first touch with the left foot instead of his right.

  8. I think he does that to adjust the paces. If he just changes the paces without doing that, it might be too much for his legs to handle in the beginning of his return. And now it just becomes his habit.

  9. I don't know why but when Shaw is on the ball he is so satisfying to watch. He is one of the best controllers of the ball in the league.
