James Maddison is expected to make his first start for England against Ukraine at Wembley on Sunday – with the Leicester City playmaker set to line up on the left wing.
There were widespread calls for Maddison to be included in the England World Cup squad but, when he was, injury prevented him playing a single minute in Qatar.
Since making his international debut as a substitute against Montenegro three-and-a-half years ago, injuries and selection dilemmas have meant Maddison has missed out on playing for his country.

Southgate playing favorites again and not based on strategy & tactics. Play your best players, lay down your system so players get accustomed to it when playing weaker opponents. Players need to know their roles within the system.
So when you get to the big stage, you can tweak your tactics by inserting the proper players. I still don't see a tried and true system when they are constantly changing players based upon their conduct. Poor Foden and others.
Players should be selected based upon merits in how they play in top teams in PL since they don't play together enough routinely. Is it because they have so many players to choose from?
