Nicky Rod is a freak of nature
Look at how Nick Rod bails on the guard so quickly and reverts to wrestling. He refuses to let himself feel weak. Because of this I don't see him eclipsing Gordon Ryan… Ever.

As great of an athlete as he is I see him do very little actual ju jitsu. Almost exclusively chases the back and wrestling scrambles he can win. Listen to John talk about why they split up and part of it being about these athletes not being satisfied when he tells them they aren't doing well. It's obvious Nicky rod is one of those guys. Can probably smash most blackbelts but just jitsu wise is barely a purple belt and it seems like he doesn't want to grow his style.
