    US Soccer Crisis Just Got Worse

    When I first did a video on the potential blackmail around the US men’s national team at the world cup, I figured it was interesting and definitely bad, but surely there was a more logical explanation to it. I was absolutely wrong. The drama surrounding Gregg Berhalter and Gio Reyna grew to encompass Reyna’s whole family, who actually have become the focus of the whole story.

    I may not think that Gregg Berhalter is the man to lead the US men’s national team for our home world cup, but my goodness he’s come out of the formal investigation looking a lot better than when he went into it. Claudio Reyna and Danielle Reyna on the other hand, not so much, as they have taken the idea of toxic soccer parents into the main stream.

      If you think Gio Reyna is innocent in all this, then you're naive as feck. Sounds to me like he's been constantly complaining to his parents like the business class stuff 🤦‍♂️

      Btw. why do you Americans reckon that Reyna is something special player? He can't get in the Dortmund team, and you never hear of him here in Europe as a talent. I'm not to degenerate him but I don't get all the hype.

      The federation coddled the Reynas for too long, I'd ban them or declare then non grata at any official FIFA match. Hope it doesn't overshadow Gio's career but that attitude wouldn't go well with no coaches in other leagues. Not even Neymar or Messi's dads would flinch if their sons got subbed off :/ it's insane their attitude as parents

      People would probably be whistling different tunes if Greg struck first. Sad how people were "oh that's fine" once it was revealed that his wife was the one who initiated it.

      Fast Forward 6 months later
      Claudio Reyna is implicated in an attempted kidnapping of the Berhalters youngest child. Police arrive at the Reyna's residence, where Claudio and Danielle get in a white Bronco and lead police on a medium speed chase until they are finally apprehended. US Soccer implodes and Zealand has an aneurysm on camera trying to explain the situation to us again.

      I was gutted that Reyna didn't get capped for England and chose The United States. Now, I'm glad he did. Great player but far too much parental baggage

      Gio's only been averaging 35 minutes in 15 league games at dortmund this season. I think that says a lot about the impact this has had on him personally this season. As a guy that coaches juniors I can only say that parents need to either help out and contribute in a positive manner, or get out the way. The damage you can do is the sort of thing that can end careers, sometimes before they start!

      Maybe we have to thank that random passerby that stopped Berhalter from completely beating up his then girlfriend by tackling him as the cause for a weird buttefly effect that lead us here.

      Fair question here. Do you think an 18 year old would have known to do all those things such as reaching out to different parties, and making efforts for contriteness in a way that was very recordable? Could it also be argued that Greg was following the advice of legal counsel in an effort to avoid an arrest with the prosecutor’s office?

      Dude, you waited nine days after the report was released to post this video and you're still hyperventilating over this?
      Most all USMNT are ready to get over this. Berhalter didn't do well enough to deserve another 4 years. Gio Reyna has a bright future ahead of him. His parents behaved badly, but just google this topic and you'll discover far worse youth sports parents behavior.
      So, yeah, take some Xanax, calm down and move on
