Southampton have completed their club-record signing of Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana from Rennes for £22m on the final days of the January transfer window.
The 22-year-old made 11 starts among his 20 appearances during his first Ligue 1 campaign before his season was cut short in February due to a back injury.
Sulemana has earned 15 senior international caps and is known for his lightning-quick pace on the field.
In his debut match as a starter against the Wolves, Sulemana was free to roam across the front line and showcase his full potential.
Within the first five minutes, he made his presence felt with a dazzling run and cross into the box.
Throughout the match, Sulemana was a constant threat, deftly skipping past challenges and regularly testing the goalkeeper with his head up.
The £22m fee surpasses the £20m spent on signing Danny Ings from Liverpool in 2019.
With his pace, dribbling skills, and relentless determination, Sulemana is poised to ignite the Southampton attack and help the club stave off relegation.
