Edinson Roberto Cavani Gomez (Spanish: Edinson Roberto Cavani Gómez; born February 14, 1987, Salto), better known simply as Edinson Cavani (Spanish: Edinson Cavani; pronunciation: [ˈeðinsoŋ kaˈβani]) – Uruguayan football club, striker Saint Germain ”and the national team of Uruguay.

Cavani began his career at the Danubio club in Uruguay, having been at the club for 7 years, most of the time playing in the youth team. In 2007, Cavani moved to Palermo. He spent four seasons at the club, scoring 34 goals in 109 national league matches. In 2010, Cavani moved to Napoli, which he rented with a buyout option, subsequently activating it. In the 2011/12 season, Edinson won his first trophy – the Italian Cup, scoring 5 goals in this tournament and becoming his top scorer. On July 16, 2013, Cavani transferred to Paris Saint-Germain, who paid EUR 64 million for the player. The Uruguayan striker has become one of the highest paid footballers in the world and the most expensive footballer in the history of French football. In January 2018, he became the club’s top scorer, scoring his 157th goal.

On February 6, 2008, Cavani made his debut in the Uruguayan national team, since then having played for her 105 matches in which he managed to score 45 goals, only Luis Suarez scored more than Cavani – 55 goals. Edinson Cavani was born in the city of Salto, which is the second largest settlement in Uruguay. Edinson’s family comes from Italy: grandfather was born in Maranello, where he moved to Sicily as a baby. In 1929 he immigrated to Argentina, and then to Montevideo.

Cavani’s father, Luis, played football professionally, spent several games for the Uruguayan national team. Football player’s mom is Berta Gomez. Edinson has a brother, Christian, who was the defender, and half-brother Walter Guillermone, who played 2 matches for the national team. The boy and his older brother instilled a love of football for the boy at a young age. Edinson could play football for hours, at the age of 9, he was already beating boys older than himself. At the time of Cavani’s birth, his parents moved to Salto, where he began his football career. At the age of 12 I was invited to many clubs from Montevideo, but my father, who played good football for a number of Uruguayan clubs, told me: it’s too early, son, your time will come. ” At the age of 12, Edinson moved to Montevideo, where he was taken to the youth team of the Danubio club.

In January 2007, he was called up to the Uruguayan youth team to play in the South American Championship among youth teams. Cavani became the top scorer of the tournament with 7 goals in 9 matches, and the team took 3rd place.

On February 6, 2008, he played his first match for the Uruguayan adult team against Colombia and immediately scored his first goal.

At the group stage of the 2018 World Cup, Cavani scored the third goal in the match with the Russian team. In the 1/8 finals match against Portugal, Edinson scored a double, thanks to which the Uruguayan team reached the quarter finals and Cavani was recognized as the best player in the match.

In the summer of 2019, Edinson was invited to the team to participate in the America’s Cup, which took place in Brazil. In the first match in the group against Ecuador, he scored a goal in the 33rd minute, and his team won a landslide victory 4-0. He was recognized as the best player of the match. In the third match against Chile, he scored a goal and brought victory to his team 1-0.
