Team GB’s Jade Jones wins the women’s taekwondo -57kg gold medal by defeating China’s Hou Yuzhuo at the ExCeL – South Arena 1 as part of the London 2012 Olympic Games (9 August).

Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art, which means “the way of kicking and punching”. In taekwondo, hands and feet can be used to overcome an opponent, but the trademark of the sport is its combination of kick movements. Taekwondo is one of the two Asian martial arts included on the Olympic programme. Taekwondo made its debut as a demonstration Olympic sport at the 1988 Seoul Games, and became an official medal sport at the 2000 Sydney Games.

  1. She is really talented and I love her confidence.
I'm the happiest person to say my Dad's friend is Jades cousin and that I have Jades autograph ❤

  2. Good how Jones didn’t give up in the final minutes of the match, even though she was only ahead by 2 points. And it’s how Jones kept on going so she could go to the final

  3. Mi hija es cinturón rojo y pelea mejor que esa China hasta diría que le daría una paliza a jade..No entiendo como puede estar en unos juegos Olímpicos con tan poco nivel

  4. Hou Yuzhuo – from Hebei just like Chinese Actress Zhou Dongyu. An Korean actor Lee Joon-gi also was in a film with actress Zhou Dongyu. But for Korea – I like Dae Hoon Lee in taekwondo.
