Ederson Santana de Moraes, more commonly referred to as Ederson, is a professional footballer from Brazil who currently plays for Manchester City in the English Premier League as a goalkeeper.
Ederson was born in Osasco, Brazil, on August 17, 1993. He started his professional football career in 2011 with the Brazilian team So Paulo FC, but he didn’t play for the club’s first team.
Ederson made his professional debut for Benfica after moving to Portugal in 2015. He helped Benfica win the Primeira Liga in the 2015-16 season and quickly became one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe.
Ederson was the most expensive goalkeeper in British football history when he was signed by Manchester City in the summer of 2017 for a reported £35 million. He has since developed into a key player for the club, contributing significantly to their domestic and European successes.
Ederson is well-known for his excellent shot-stopping, distribution, and willingness to play sweeper-keeper instead of goalkeeper. Additionally, he is renowned for his ability to maintain composure under pressure and maintain focus in high-pressure situations.
Ederson has played for clubs as well as the Brazilian national team, winning his first cap in 2017. He was on the Brazilian team that won the Copa América in 2019.
