Calvin Diakite, Jashayde Greenwood and Gabriel Sambou all started for England Under-18s while Ryan Kavuma-McQueen came off the bench to net a late winner as the Young Lions defeated South Korea 2-1 on Wednesday morning.
Kavuma-McQueen, who is currently on loan at Portsmouth from Chelsea, scored the decisive goal in the first minute of additional time, his looping shot finding the top corner. The winger had been introduced on the hour, shortly after England had taken the lead, and at the same time Diakite and Greenwood were withdrawn.
The victory means Will Antwi’s squad have progressed to the UEFA Friendship Cup semi-final, having maintained their 100 per cent record to top Group A. They will now face the winner of Group B on Sunday.
Scotland Under-19’s were also in action, as Alfie Osborne featured for the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 loss to Ukraine. The 17-year-old played every minute of Scotland’s Spanish tour, which concluded this morning.
