Crystal Palace are looking to tie down both Tyrick Mitchell and Ismaila Sarr to new contracts, with Liverpool showing an interest in the latter, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
It was an interesting summer transfer window for Sarr, who wasn’t involved in some of their games during that period due to ongoing speculation surrounding his future.
Liverpool were one of the sides showing an interest in securing his signature, but a move failed to materialise.
Sarr was clearly hoping to secure himself a move in the summer, but he now has to knuckle down and try to prove himself ahead of the January transfer window.
The Eagles will be pleased that they managed to keep hold of Sarr in the summer, alongside a number of key players such as Mitchell, but they are now looking to take it a step further and extend their deals.
According to a report from journalist Nixon, Crystal Palace are looking to make a play to tie down Mitchell and Sarr to new contracts.
Palace are willing to offer both players a higher salary in order to tempt them to put pen to paper, with Mitchell in particular on a low wage by Premier League standards.
Liverpool showed an interest in signing Sarr in the summer and the Senegalese international has been unsettled, but the Eagles are set to offer him an extension alongside a pay rise.
Whether Liverpool look to make a move for Sarr again remains to be seen, and it will be interesting to see whether the Palace winger is keen on remaining at Selhurst Park for the rest of the season at least.

Parish speaks out on Sarr
Palace owner Steve Parish recently spoke out about Sarr’s failed move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
Parish suggested that it was a situation that was none of Palace’s doing, as the offer made from Liverpool was never going to be accepted, especially at that time of the window.
“It’s unfortunate with Ismaila, but that wasn’t really a situation that was of our doing. A club (Liverpool) came in and, with the amount of money they bid, they couldn’t seriously think in that market it was going to get done at that level, and then they didn’t come back in for him.”
Parish also admitted that Sarr did want to leave the club, but they were unable to complete a deal in the final days of the window.
“You could understand Ismaila would have liked to go and if it wasn’t five days before the end of the window and the money was right, then we would have tried to facilitate it.”
