Manchester’s Etihad Stadium will host even MORE big music gigs in 2027 after the huge Oasis June residency – in what is set to be a bumper summer of live music for the city, bosses have confirmed. The stadium is “back in the concert game” after several years away while Manchester City’s home ground undertook its major North Stand expansion.
Concerts returned to the venue this summer, with The Weeknd and Take That performing to huge crowds at the stadium after the end of the football season. But 2027 is set to see the biggest ever year of concerts at the ground, amid a major transformation of the wider Etihad Campus with the opening of the new entertainment district, Medlock Square.
Oasis confirmed their 11-night residency at the ground of their beloved Manchester City earlier this month, with tickets going on sale over this weekend. Competition is set to be huge among fans to secure one of over half a million tickets going on sale for their big homecoming run of gigs at the Etihad Stadium across June 2027.

But stadium boss Danny Wilson has confirmed to media this week that the Oasis run will not be the only big music events at the Blues ground next summer. He told guests at the formal opening of the £300 million Medlock Square development that they aim to make the Etihad Campus a “known entertainment destination” with music a key part of that.
Mr Wilson said during the event: “We’re back in the concert game right? There was an announcement last Monday about Oasis coming to the stadium, that’s 11 nights throughout the month of June next year, and we’ve got some more concerts we’re looking at into July next year as well.”

No further information was given on exactly which artists are set to head to the Etihad in July 2027 by Mr Wilson or Manchester City. But wider music industry sources have pointed to a number of big names set to make tour announcements before the end of the year.
Stars rumoured for UK 2027 tours
The MEN has been told by music industry insiders that artists including American chart-topper Bruno Mars and British rock trailblazer Sam Fender are among artists that could be looking at stadium shows in summer 2027.
Other big name artists rumoured to be looking to announce new tours next year and beyond include stadium giants U2 and solo star Ed Sheeran. Music fans are also eagerly hoping for more concert news from Taylor Swift amid her new music announcement this week, while pop icon Harry Styles has announced a tour extension into 2027, but as yet no new homecoming dates to his native north west.
But news that the Etihad Stadium is “back in the concert game” is undoubtedly a boost to promoters looking to schedule big artist tours in the months and years to come.

More gigs being held at the Etihad Stadium, alongside neighbouring Co-op Live, forms part of the wider City Group plans to make the Etihad Campus, and the new Medlock Square, into a major new entertainment destination for Manchester.
Speaking at the launch event, Mr Wilson, the Managing Director of Operations for Matchday and Medlock Square, said: “Our immediate goals over 6-12 months is to establish Medlock Square as a known destination and we’re under no illusion that isn’t an easy job to do, but we’ve got plans in place.
“We want our supporters to be proud of this space, to encourage their friends and families to come down as well. Success is seeing the spaces thriving every single day of the week, as much as we know that’s a challenge but we will get there and work our way through it.”
‘Manchester is a city that can deliver the biggest and best’
While 2027 will be a summer of music at the Etihad Stadium, 2028 is already looking like a huge summer of sport. The ground will be a host stadium when the UEFA Euro 2028 tournament heads to the UK and Ireland. And Mr Wilson has teased more sporting events are being planned too.
Mr Wilson said: “Manchester is hosting the Euros, we’re proudly hosting England’s first game and four other games at the Etihad Stadium in 2028. “We’re in the running as one of the selected venues if the UK and Ireland’s bid for the Women’s World Cup in 2035 is successful and there will be a lot of other things between 2028 and 2035 not just sport and not just football.

“When we show we can deliver, that Manchester has got a great record of, we are one small part of that but equally an important part of that, we hope that will be another catalyst to attract people for different reasons to come down.”
Mr Wilson also hailed the wider developments at the Etihad Campus, including the decision to develop Co-op Live, as being gamechangers for the region.
He said: “The evidence is there, the biggest events in the world – from the NBA coming to Co-op Live in January, we had the MTV European awards, The BRITs came out of London for the first time in 49 years and it comes back again in February, there’s a whole range of the biggest and best music artists in entertainment coming to Co-op Live – that’s a shot in the arm for Manchester.

“It’s not just about what we can deliver on this site, I think It’s about confidence globally that Manchester is a city that can deliver the biggest and best events on the planet and do it well. And that doesn’t happen by chance, it doesn’t happen just because of Manchester City, Co-op Live, it’s the council, it’s all the other stakeholders, all the other businesses that continue to see Manchester as a place to invest in.
“We see the cranes in the sky when we look out of the windows. This city is going to continue to build and grow. We are one part of it, and we’ve got to focus on entertainment now moving forward.
“And that’s why today we sit in Medlock Square with all these amazing amenities that are either open or about to open in the coming months.”

The official unveiling of Medlock Square has seen the opening of the 401-bedroom hotel The Medlock by Radisson Blu, as well as new restaurants Little Beast and Zadies. Coming soon will be the opening of a new food hall Brickworks featuring five independent food brands, while there is also going to be a huge new flagship Puma sports store on the site as well as a new Manchester City museum experience.
Also opening before Christmas will be a new Roofwalk Adventure, which will allow visitors to skywalk across the Etihad Stadium and even abseil down it. Then into next year, works have now started to create a new theatre building next to the Medlock hotel which will house Mamma Mia! The Party, the major immersive theatre and dining experience where guests get to feel like they’re inside a real Greek town square and taverna.
Mr Wilson added: “We want to appeal to as broad a spectrum, not just to City fans, young and old, but people young and old, people visiting Manchester who want to see the best experiences the city has to offer. It’s now becoming a reality.”
