Arsenal have three weeks to wait to avenge their dismal Brighton loss as the international break begins.
A total of 17 Gunners will head out on duty over the extended period with the club represented across the England, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Norway, Italy, Sweden and Brazil national teams. Declan Rice was also called up to Thomas Tuchel’s squad but opted to withdraw, citing load management.
Mikel Arteta will work with those who will remain in north London over the next few weeks, preparing for Leeds’ visit to the Emirates Stadium. Several tough games are coming up for the Gunners, including trips to Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

Julian Alvarez links
Arsenal could launch a fresh pursuit of Julian Alvarez in January, with a potential loan move reportedly being explored. Spanish media, as cited by The Standard, has suggested the transfer could be revisited by the Gunners, after the Gunners fell short in their summer approach for the £128million-rated forward.
The Argentina international was eager to depart Atletico Madrid but preferred a switch to Barcelona. However, Diego Simeone’s side refused to sanction the striker’s move to their La Liga rivals at any price.

With Alvarez having been restricted to a bench role in La Liga since the summer saga, a loan arrangement could reportedly be on the table when the next transfer window opens.
England coach urges patience
England U21s boss Lee Carsley has called for patience regarding highly-rated youngster Max Dowman. Carsley believes the teenager will eventually graduate into his squad, having received a call-up to the U19s this month, yet insists he has no intention of rushing the 16-year-old into a higher age group just yet.
Reflecting on Dowman’s prospects at international level, Carsley said: “He’s definitely an outstanding talent. It’s inevitable that he’s going to be with the Under-21s because of his talent. But we have to make sure we do that at the right time, that he comes away with us and plays minutes and competes with the other players that are in his position.

“We had a similar issue a few years ago with Ethan Nwaneri. He was early and he made his debut and he’s done really well but there’s that tendency to push him on quickly. We have to be patient and make sure that ultimately we want them to play for the senior team for a prolonged period so we have to make sure we get the time right with that.”
To date, the Arsenal winger has featured 10 times for the U19s, registering seven goal contributions and demonstrating his ability to hold his own against considerably more experienced players.
