Today’s Liverpool news sees star midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai issue a message

Much has been made of Liverpool’s midfield already this season. The Reds elected not to strengthen their engine room this summer and just one win in the Premier League from four games has thrust that decision back into the spotlight.
Two of the central unit, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, have been ever-present this campaign. The Hungarian showed his quality again midweek with a stunning strike against Tottenham Hotspur in a 3-1 third-round Carabao Cup win.
However, he has been criticised for his performances this season. Argentine Mac Allister looks to have returned to form this season after a dip last year. But he’s been left to battle for his place in the first XI under Andoni Iraola.
Today’s latest sees Szoboszlai address his controversial celebration against Spurs. Elsewhere, Mac Allister’s father has spoken out on reports that his son could be set to leave Anfield for Real Madrid in the near future.
Szoboszlai responds to critics
Liverpool vice-captain Szoboszlai has hit back at claims that his celebration against Spurs on Tuesday was in response to fans criticising him and the team after a goalless draw with Fulham last weekend.

After hitting a sublime half volley, the midfielder pointed a finger towards his ear in a listening gesture. The Hungarian, part of a leadership group at Liverpool that includes Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Alisson Becker, however, refused to entertain that notion.
“No, [the celebration] was just for myself,” Szoboszlai said post-match at Anfield on Tuesday evening. “No, I just decided before the game and I just did it.

“Was there a criticism? I don’t know,” he added. “I didn’t see [that] but thanks for telling me. You know this goal was for the people who are always next to me. Because we are also humans so we can have bad games, we can have bad days and I think never ever was a player who played every game of his life [well].
“So there will be days also and games where I am going to play badly, but I think the most important is the reaction so I think I reacted quite well today and hopefully I can keep on going on Sunday against Bournemouth.”
Mac Allister’s dad makes claim
Alexis Mac Allister’s father, Carlos, has played down talk that the Liverpool midfielder could move to Real Madrid. The World Cup winner has been in strong form this season, despite being in and out of the team, and reiterated his importance with a goal against Spurs midweek
Speaking before last week’s 2-1 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid, Mac Allister, whose Anfield deal runs until 2028, confessed he was “very, very sad” that he was yet to be offered a new deal by the club.
The Liverpool star also explained that he had offers to leave Anfield this summer, amid speculation that Real were interested. Talk of a transfer to Los Blancos has been quashed by Carlos, who, in an interview with 365 Scores, said: “No-one from Real Madrid has contacted us at any point in the entire career of Alexis.”

He added Liverpool have yet to ignite talks of a new contract with his son. “No-one from Liverpool’s management has contacted us to renew his contract yet,” Carlos said.
“We have a contract that is valid and we are committed to it with Liverpool, and if the club does not offer to renew the contract, it is their right. For now, Alexis has to give his best for the club in every game over the weekend.
“Alexis is not disappointed. This is a decision that the club makes, and we don’t judge their decisions, we just prepare for what’s to come.”
