Chelsea eye Denis Zakaria transfer but face Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel repeat. Chelsea want to sign Denis Zakaria but Manchester United are also eyeing the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder. Chelsea remain interested in Gladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, who has been identified as a long-term target by the recruitment team at Stamford Bridge. Whispers emerged earlier this summer that Chelsea were looking at the Swiss international but Frank Lampard decided to hold off a move despite spending £220million. According to Bild, Zakaria is one player they’re following closely due to his performances in the Bundesliga and with the Switzerland national team. Christian Falk, claimed Chelsea were interested earlier in the year: “It’s true but Chelsea are not the only club keen,” he told the Byline Podcast.
“We know these clubs have shortlists and Zakaria is on the shortlist of Chelsea because he is a really good player.
“But he is also on the shortlist of United and the shortlist of City.”
