Southampton boss Tonda Eckert is confident Flynn Downes will be fit to face Wrexham next Saturday.

Downes picked up a knock in the 4-1 win over Bristol City before being replaced by at half-time.

“I think he’ll be fine for the next game, but he got a knock after one minute of the game, and he tried to push through,” Eckert explained afterwards/

“You can feel that he isn’t really right, even though he tells you he is.

“We had a long period where we didn’t have control, but we used half-time for that and then played a very different game to the one we planned.

“On some days you need to win football games in a different manner than you prepared for. But I’m very confident he’ll be ready for Wrexham.”
