I read that Fowler said that Klopp didn't want to replace Couthino with another playmaker of the same type. Once it was clear that he was going to move on, Klopp was pragmatic enough to make the midfield Liverpool have today. Looking back I don't think Kloop saw Coutino's move as a loss, but more as an opportunity. And he was right, ofcourse! The gap many feared would be there never occured. The team filled the void immidiately and moved on to win champion's league. It's telling that he didn't want Coutinho back when Barca told Liverpool that he wanted to come back. Sorry, said Klopp, but we can't afford it. He's too much of a gentleman to say that he did't want him. Liverpool shall not be a club that forgive and forget too easy, either. I loved Coutino back then, but I don't respect him anymore. I'm so grateful that Klopp keep the pride up and have restored Liverpool's reputation as a club you want to come to, but don't want to leave. Coutino regretted his move, but found out that there's no way back. Klopp's project don't wait for players to make up their mind. Anyway, Coutino wouldn't have a place in the club today. Klopp's decition saved him from that embarresment.
