West Ham received a late bid worth up to £45m from Everton for Taty Castellanos, according to TEAMtalk.
West Ham’s transfer window concluded at 11pm on Tuesday night. WHUFC struck some late deals to strengthen their ranks, bringing in Adama Boiro from Athletic Bilbao on a loan-to-buy deal.
However, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side nearly saw a major departure late in the day. According to TEAMtalk, West Ham received a late bid worth up to £45m from Everton for Taty Castellanos, as they looked at several options as Folarin Balogun’s deal fell through.
WHUFC were willing to accept the deal to sell Castellanos. However, with so little time left in the transfer window, West Ham were not going to be able to replace the Argentinian and therefore did not sanction the deal.
West Ham need Castellanos to turn his cup form into league form
Castellanos’ start to life at West Ham United has been a mixed one since their return to the Championship. The Argentine has started three of their opening four league matches, but remains without a goal or assist.
He endured a particularly frustrating afternoon against Charlton, registering seven shots before seeing a stoppage-time penalty strike the post in a 2-1 defeat. Castellanos was quieter against Watford before coming off the bench in the 4-2 victory over Wolves.
However, his League Cup form has offered plenty of encouragement. He scored twice against Portsmouth before finding the net again as a substitute against Southampton, taking his tally to three goals in two cup appearances.
Overall, Castellanos has three goals in six appearances this term, with all of his goals coming in the cup. With Everton showing late interest before he remained at West Ham, Nuno will hope his league form soon matches his impressive cup displays.

Castellanos could prove pivotal to West Ham United’s bid to return to the Premier League after showing he can produce in difficult circumstances. The striker joined in January 2026 and was an immediate hit, however the Hammers ultimately suffered relegation.

His form before arriving in England also provides plenty of encouragement. Castellanos scored 10 Serie A goals for Lazio in 2024-25 and added two goals and three assists during the first half of the following campaign.
The forward’s combination of movement, pressing and aerial ability should translate well to the Championship. He is not a static No.9, instead dropping deep, making diagonal runs and working relentlessly without the ball.
A slow start to the current campaign, including a missed penalty against Charlton, should not overshadow his potential. If Castellanos rediscovers the finishing touch that produced six Premier League goals last season, he could become one of the Championship’s most dangerous forwards.
