Wolves received late approaches from Liverpool and Manchester United for Mateus Mane, according to TEAMtalk.
Wolves made two late additions before the summer transfer window slammed shut, and they wanted more. Sean Neave joined on loan from Newcastle United, and free agent full-back Ghislain Konan arrived, having spent time under Cesar Peixoto in the past.
WWFC could have allowed Mateus Mane to move on late in the window too, according to TEAMtalk. However, late moves by Liverpool and Manchester United were turned down by Wolves.
Liverpool looked at Mane as both a permanent signing and a potential buy-to-loan-back option, but Wolves were insistent that the youngster was not available for transfer and refused to entertain the prospect of letting him leave.
Mane had interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham, Everton, Brighton, Newcastle United and Brentford as well. The forward did not push to leave the club despite relegation, wanting to play an important role in their return to the Premier League.
Interest in Mane is no surprise after his Premier League stint
Mane can operate across the frontline, giving Wolves plenty of flexibility in how they use him. New head coach Peixoto appears to favour a back-four system, which could see the youngster deployed from the wing.
However, Mane could arguably produce his best football through the middle, where he would have greater freedom to drift across the pitch and influence the game. That licence could allow him to make the most of his creativity and unpredictability.
There is a balance to strike, though, as Mane will need to be managed carefully. If he constantly looks to get involved, Championship defenders could soon work out his movements and make him easier to contain.
Playmaking is one of Mane’s biggest strengths, with the winger creating 30 chances last season, including seven big chances. He also completed 34 successful crosses and 31 dribbles, although his 36.9% dribble success rate suggests there is still room for improvement.

Mane has started his time in the Championship well despite not scoring or assisting in the opening four games. He has started all four games for Wolves, averaging a 7.17 match rating.

Wolves have some excellent players, and even after losing some star players still have one of the best squads in the Championship.
A real highlight of that is their front four, with Mane being a large part of it. Summer signing Raul Jimenez will lead the line for this season upon his return, with Fer Lopez and Rodrigo Gomes joining Mane as the three behind him.
That quartet is going to be crucial to WWFC this season with Mane, Lopez and Gomes all likely be attract more and more attention ahead of next summer.
