Preston North End host Wolves at Deepdale this Saturday as the new Championship seasons continues.
Preston North End continue their Championship campaign with a home tie against Wolves. It marks a tough test for PNE as they begin their home campaign in the league.
After progressing in the Carabao Cup against Huddersfield Town, Paul Heckingbottom’s side suffered an opening day defeat against Bolton Wanderers. New signing Jusef Erabi registered his second goal of the season, but it was only a consolation in the 2-1 defeat, a result the Lilywhites will be eager to move on from.
Wolves meanwhile secured a late point at home to Blackburn Rovers, with a last-gasp penalty by fan favourite Raul Jimenez levelling the scores at 2-2. Marshall Munetsi opened the scoring for the hosts before they were pegged back by Rovers.
Going forward, Wanderers look like they will create plenty of chances this season, but fans will be hoping for a stronger defensive performance this weekend. Cesar Peixoto will hope his side grows stronger over time, with more new signings sought at Molineux as well.

“Championship football returns to Deepdale this Saturday, as both Preston North End and Wolves look to secure their first league win of the season after both sides saw frustrating results on the opening day.
“PNE suffered a defeat to local rivals Bolton Wanderers, in a performance warranted the result. Although The Lilywhites saw some big chances go begging, but the Deepdale outfit didn’t deserve anything from the game and they face another tough test on Saturday.
“Wolves head to Lancashire with a spring in their step after a last-minute equaliser last time out. A well-worked goal converted by Marshall Munesti and cult hero Jimenez getting on the score sheet meant the Old Gold meant they got their first point of the campaign.
“Wolves will be desperate to showcase all their qualities as they head to Lancashire this weekend searching for a first win of the season. It will be a challenge, with Deepdale a tough place to go, but I think the away side’s quality will show.”
Prediction: Preston North End 1-3 Wolves

“The excitement of the opening day means surprises can be sprung, and I don’t think many were expecting Bolton Wanderers to play so well against Preston North End. PNE did not offer enough as their opposition relished the occasion.
“It doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence for the hosts this weekend. Wolves are going to be a bit of a work in progress early on but the talent in that side is clear to see.
“Going off the performance against Blackburn Rovers, Peixoto’s side could play some really good stuff this season. Defensively solidity will hopefully come in good time, and if it does, they can be a real force.
“Here, I think we see another defeat for North End as Wolves get a much-needed win on the board.”
Prediction: Preston North End 0-2 Wolves
