Liverpool could soon become major players in the summer transfer window, with only one month remaining. They have brought in Victor Munoz from Osasuna, but further reinforcements had been expected under Andoni Iraola. Significant departures are likely to force the Reds into forking out.

Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have all left and no direct replacements have been signed this summer. Bradley Barcola of Paris Saint-Germain has emerged as Liverpool’s standout target to replace Salah, and they have been given encouragement in their pursuit, while Express Sport has taken a look at four more deals that could take place this week.

Liverpool have held exploratory discussions with Barcola’s camp in recent weeks as they attempt to finalise a deal for the French international.

The left-sided forward, who is also capable of operating on the right, is understood to carry a £140million valuation from the European champions. Liverpool, though, are seeking to negotiate with the Parisians to reduce the price.

While the deal hasn’t appeared close until recently, PSG’s interest in Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche and Ajax winger Mika Godts could accelerate proceedings, providing the Reds with clearance to reach an agreement.

Luis Enrique’s outfit are understood to require replacements before approving Barcola’s departure, and the anticipated double acquisition could smooth the path for Barcola to join Liverpool shortly.

Jones could be heading for the exit door. Inter Milan have revived their pursuit and approached Liverpool regarding a £30m transfer.

That figure still remains below Liverpool’s £35m asking price. Jones has 12 months remaining on his contract and has been a target for the Serie A giants since the start of the year.

Intermediaries representing Inter have made fresh contact with Liverpool and have conveyed the Italian club’s readiness to raise their offer. Jones has featured 228 times since making his debut in January 2019, but has been looking for greater first-team chances.

Speculation surrounding an Anfield departure for Chiesa has quietened in recent weeks. Nevertheless, suggestions that the Italian attacker could depart have now re-emerged.

Foot Mercato claim that Atletico Madrid are keen on securing the 28-year-old. Chiesa arrived at Liverpool during the summer of 2024 and has netted five goals in 50 outings.

While he has found it difficult to establish himself as a consistent starter, the Euro 2020 winner has been responsible for several significant moments in a Red shirt, becoming something of a cult hero.

Italian outlet Tutto Juve claim that Liverpool have begun preliminary talks with AC Milan concerning a possible deal for former Chelsea defender Tomori. The report indicates that “discussions are currently still in the early stages and negotiations are not yet advanced.”

Tomori remains under contract until 2027.

The centre-back progressed through the youth system at Stamford Bridge before transferring to Milan five years ago.

Iraola’s need for defensive reinforcement has become more urgent following the confirmation that Joe Gomez will miss the opening weeks of the campaign due to injury. New signing Jeremy Jacquet has also been absent for the Reds because of a minor fitness issue.

Defenders Konate and Robertson have both left the club this summer, while young Italian centre-back Giovanni Leoni and right-back Conor Bradley are yet to rejoin pre-season training following their respective injuries.

Elliott has been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the summer. The 23-year-old spent the previous campaign on loan at Aston Villa but made just nine appearances.

He has been linked with RB Leipzig in Germany and Leeds. The Liverpool midfielder is hoping the arrival of Iraola might revitalise his prospects on Merseyside.

He has featured in pre-season fixtures under Iraola in the United States and reports he is relishing working under the former Bournemouth manager.
