Listen. No one gets the opportunities that Dest has had, because of magical luck. He obviously has ability. Injuries, not striving to adapt and become a better defender, is what’s killing the guy.
We all want Serg to do well. But, he would get COOKED in the Prem. The guys are right. He needs to go back to the Eredivisie. Or maybe to a smaller team in Spain. Italy is too physical, Barca was too big, the Prem wingers he’d face are WAY too dynamic.

At Ajax they wanted to sell Dest as he was deemed not good enough. Dest's value is in his nationality and the potential commercial value it brings. Trained in The Netherlands at Ajax he was easily going to be in the USMNT. He was bought by Barca for the same reason a lot of Chinese and South-Korean players are bought. Not because they are better that any European or South American player, but they bring with them great commercial opportunities in markets that are still open to get fans (team jersey buying customers) from.

I think that move from Ajax was way too soon!!! He needs to develop I think a move back to Holland or maybe go to Portugal, Belgium, or maybe Germany but he's just not that good enough
