Dibu Martinez won the World Cup with Argentina and his very own penalty shootout tactics played a crucial role in that victory. Now that things have cooled down a bit, FIFA took a closer look at his ways. This is the story of Emi Martinez’s shi*housery forcing FIFA to rule changes!

  1. The only problem I have with him(and also other goalkeepers) is that sometimes he throws the balls away or goes to penalty point and does something in the ground. Such behaveour should be restricted. But to ban every move or word from a goalkeeper is just mindblowing. As a lot of people suggested in the comments, better get robots to play so there isn´t any feelings broken.

  2. The punishment is way too delayed.. one only has to continue wondering after other obvious yellow and red card situations that went unpunished, and the record number of contentious penalties for one team ever awarded.

  3. I still can't believe people still think that the World Cup was rigged for Argentina to win it. Where should I begin?

Game 1, vs KSA- If it was actually rigged, then there wouldn't have been all those offside calls (especially the one where Lautaro was onside, but yet it was called offside, which would mean Argentina would have at least got a point from that fixture), and Argentina would have won 4-2.

Game 3. vs Poland- They say that the penalty was too soft vs Poland. But did it affect the outcome of the game? Absolutely not. Argentina absolutely thrashed Poland, in a game where the score was closer to 0-4 than 0-2. But we don't talk about that, because Argentina is a less skilled team who doesn't deserve to win a trophy such as the World Cup it seems.

Game 5 vs Netherlands- If this match was rigged, the referee wouldn't have given 10 F'ing minutes of added time. The match would have ended 2-1, as the only actual delay was Paredes' foul on Ake.

Game 6 vs Croatia- No one talks about how Argentina dominated the game completely with their constant attacking threat. Yes, Croatia had control for half an hour, but after that, it was all Argentina. Even if you remove the penalty, Argentina still scored two past them, so they still won. And even if you want to argue that that would have changed the tempo of the game, that way you can literally argue for or against anything, there are infinite possibilities.

Game 7 vs France- Dembele clipped Di Maria's foot, which was a clear penalty. Want proof? Just look at Griezmann's reaction to Dembele's deed, he literally looks at him giving him a look that suggests why would you do that. Also, if it really was rigged, would France have been given two penalties? NO. Lastly, people argue that Messi's third goal should not have counted because there were two substitutes on the field when he scored. But no, we don't talk about the fact that when Kolo Muani was through on goal vs Dibu, there were LITERALLY 7 substitutes on the pitch. And at the end of the game, the French players lauded the referee, along with other referees and commentators, calling his performance one of the best.

Argentina won 2 matches via PKS, which clearly means it's not rigged, else it would not have even gone the distance vs Netherlands or France. And I'm sure someone who has a basic knowledge of world affairs would know that countries like Argentina and Brazil don't enough money to buy the World Cup. And everyone talks badly about Dibu, but when Tim Krul broke the rules when he played for Spurs or players like Joe Hart and Oliver Kahn used distraction techniques it's all fine. If anything, I believe people actually didn't want Argentina to win the World Cup.

No one talks about the fact that they consistently dominated every game in terms of XG and had lesser XG against them. Every player performed their role. Lastly, the rules might change after the win, which indicates it was not rigged. I believe that the rules should remain the same. Else without any distraction techniques, most players would score their penalties and shootouts would mostly not be too entertaining. The next thing you know, FIFA might ban players from celebrating goals.

When Messi wins anything, it is rigged, or it is considered unimportant (Finalissima, and even Copa America). But when Ronaldo wins the Euro (a trophy much smaller than the World Cup), he's the goat (even though he was cheerleading in the final, Eder scored the Golazo), and Nations League (a trophy nobody cares about, just look at how rubbish France performed in it) is actually given importance lmao.

Grow up Pendu fans and other people who still believe the WC was rigged. Get a life, and stop watching ball if you can't cope. And even if Messi did score all those penalties, he can also give sensational assists, shoot insane long shots, and run like a 20-year-old (as he proved this WC) while all Pendu does is score penalties and tap-ins. We Messi fans took the pain of being defeated in three back-to-back finals, and accepted what happened. You Pendu fans criticized our GOAT so much and now say his World Cup is rigged. Cry more Pendu fans, now it's our turn.

  4. As long the language used is not discriminatory, abusive, or hateful it is okay to try to get into the opponent's head, this is one of the arts of defending. It is also very entertaining, look at martinez did during the penalty shootout against colombia in Copa 2021.

Its shameful that FIFA want to take this away.
