The Royals are no strangers to bringing in midfielders from the Red Devils, with star midfielder Charlie Savage having climbed the ranks in Manchester before making the move to Berkshire.
According to reports from ontheminute, both Reading and Barnsley are reportedly interested in brining in 20-year-old midfielder Jack Moorhouse on loan for the upcoming season.
Bolton Wanderers and Stockport County are also understood to remain long-time admirers of the midfielder.
Moorhouse spent the majority of last season on loan with Leyton Orient, where he made 24 appearances and scored one goal in a combination of roles.
Though he is predominantly a defensive midfielder, Richie Wellens deployed the young Manchester prospect as an attacking midfielder, central midfielder and his preferred defensive midfielder role.
Orient Head Coach Richie Wellens said at the time of his departure: “Jack is undoubtably a very talented footballer and I think our fans have seen that in flashes this season. Given the situation we currently find ourselves in, we thought it may limit his game time and we have been very open with Manchester United about this.
“We value our relationship with them and, with him returning, we have been able to bring someone else in to fill the space in the squad.”
Moorhouse returned to the academy setup with the u21s, where he made 10 appearances scored twice and provided two assists.
Most notably scoring the winning goal for the Red Devils in their 4-3 win in the Premier League 2 semi-final clash with local rivals Manchester City.
